Join Hempel, a global leader in coatings and paints, as a Key Account Manager, where you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting and growing relationships with our existing industrial coatings customers. In this dynamic position, you’ll apply your expertise in liquid coating applications to collaborate with customers, enhancing coating properties and performance. You’ll also work closely with our R&D team to deepen your understanding of product chemistry, helping us drive innovation and deliver superior solutions to our clients. Engage in sales calls with owners, buyers, finishing supervisors, and engineers, while building strong relationships with existing accounts and proactively prospecting new ones to connect with key decision makers.
Leverage CRM tools to efficiently manage and track account activity, ensuring seamless customer relationships.
Gain in-depth knowledge of Hempel’s innovative products, with a special focus on cutting-edge epoxy and urethane technology as well as understand what products should be recommended for specific applications.
Familiarize yourself with the Hempel organization and expertly navigate our ordering system and key processes, while leveraging our websites as powerful selling tools.
Represent Hempel at trade shows to generate leads and boost brand visibility, while working closely with Sales and Marketing to coordinate event activities and manage promotional materials.
Prepare price quotes and generate monthly reports on sales activities to track performance and drive success.
Make strategic decisions on how to allocate time with customers and prospects to maximize sales opportunities and drive profits.
Work closely with R&D to develop a deep understanding of Hempel products.
Collaborate with Customer Service to master the order system and efficiently track orders and build strong relationships with both existing and new customer accounts.
Manage customer entertainment and expenses, providing weekly reports to track and optimize expenditures.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
As a Key Account Manager, you will also handle customer inquiries, negotiate prices and delivery times within your authority, and close sales orders to meet revenue targets. Additionally, you will identify, research, and engage with prospective customers, fostering positive relationships that promote future sales and encourage repeat business.
Proficient in CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, Monday) or similar platforms to drive sales success.
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
NACE Certification preferred for enhanced industry expertise.
Strong command of English, preferably at a B2 level.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the protective coatings industry, with a preference for the Energy sector.
Experience in B2B sales and value selling strategies to build lasting customer relationships.
Well-established network with key EPC contractors, consultants, design firms, and steel fabricators.
Take charge of the customer complaint process, ensuring prompt resolution and customer satisfaction.
Demonstrate strong presentation skills, excel at selling and relationship building, and possess exceptional negotiation abilities to drive success.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Access, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Possess excellent writing, oral presentation, and time management skills to effectively communicate and prioritize tasks
Willingness to travel 50% or more to meet client needs and drive business growth within Mexico.
