Position Overview:

The Virtual Clinical Trainer is responsible for conducting customer product training and post training nurture calls.  The role will work in conjunction with the internal stakeholders such as Territory Manager, Customer Care Team, Market Access and Medical Affairs to provide clinical resources for the purpose of sustaining patients on product. Medical affairs will conduct local evidence generation which includes Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs). This role will be responsible for gaining consent to participate in the PRO program and collecting the relevant Patient reported outcomes data.   A repository of local clinical case studies will be generated for the purpose of educating external stakeholders such as HCPs and potential customers.    

Responsibilities:   

  • Conduct Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) Program calls to Insulet’s customers who have commenced or plan to be commenced on Insulet’s Omnipod products to obtain consent and /or collect PRO data. Following the program process and ensure PRO forms are completed and stored as per company guidelines.
  • Supports nurture calls and product troubleshooting with customers as part of their onboarding to pod therapy
  • Provide high quality product training and troubleshooting expertise 
  • Educates customers on the benefits of insulin pump therapy and the Omnipod 5 Insulin Delivery System in a group and/or individual sessions. Provide follow-up and/or continuing product training as required.
  • Follow correct reporting procedures and communicate any adverse events
  • Liases with account managers to plan virtual patient training, complete training checklists and communicate completion of trainings and  any follow up instructions 
  • Ability to explain the benefits of tubeless automated insulin delivery, patient pathways to access Omnipod through private and subscription pathways.  
  • Assists with virtual events such as pump support groups, info sessions, educational events, patient info nights.
  • Possibly required to attend occasional in-person events and vendor days, etc. 
  • Supports new and existing key accounts and diabetes marketplace partnerships. Build loyalty & trust by delivering meaningful clinical education and value-based discussions. (Careabouts) and record calls in Salesforce.
  • Assists with providing regular product demos to patients (virtually)as pre-pod education .  
  • Assists with product training/certification for new and existing Endos, NPs, CDEs and CPTs as required.
  • Provides Field Feedback/Intel to TM and SLT on field-based training of customers and HCPs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Work responsibly to protect the privacy of data collection as per the company guidelines

Required Leadership/Interpersonal Skills & Behaviors

  • Knowledge of key business processes and ability to coach team to meet organizational goals
  • Medical industry experience as well as strong clinical & diabetes training experience required.
  • Keen understanding of all clinical aspects of diabetes and diabetes management.
  • Strong desire to win in a team environment and displays track record of exceptional teamwork and is not afraid to challenge a team in order to win.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong presentation skills.
  • Can understand multiple viewpoints and creatively incorporate them into a solution.
  • Superior organizational and planning ability

  • Experience in dealing directly with Health Care Professionals and people with diabetes.

Education and Experience

  • Prior Diabetes Technology Industry  experience is strongly preferred ( Minimum 2 years’ experience ). 
  • Clinical coaching experience preferred.
  • Professional and polished presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communications, both oral and written.
  • Self-started who needs minimal direction; extremely flexible, with good business acumen.
  • Strong contributing member of the organization team .
  • Credibility and contacts within the diabetes community.
