As we evolve into a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) model, we’re focused on combining AI-powered autonomy with real-time safety observability and third-party integrations to deliver actionable insights and enhance safety decision-making.

We’re looking for an experienced VP/SVP of Engineering to lead the development of this transformative AI platform, driving technical strategy and delivering innovative solutions at scale.

Role Overview:

The VP/SVP of Engineering will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture and execution of our AI-powered platform, focusing on safety observability, monitoring, and real-time analytics. This leader will ensure the platform leverages AI, autonomy, and LLMs to provide intelligent, actionable safety insights and proactive risk management tools. You will also oversee seamless integrations with third-party technologies and guide a high-performing engineering team to bring this vision to life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Platform Leadership:
    Define the technical vision and architecture for the platform, ensuring scalability and integration with safety observability and real-time monitoring capabilities.
     
  • AI & Autonomy Integration:
    Lead the integration of AI and autonomous systems to enable smarter safety decision-making and proactive risk mitigation in real-time.
     
  • Safety Monitoring & Observability:
    Develop and implement comprehensive safety monitoring features that provide users with real-time data, alerts, and actionable insights to manage risks effectively.
     
  • Third-Party Integrations & Ecosystem:
    Oversee integration with third-party services and platforms, ensuring a cohesive ecosystem that enhances the platform’s functionality and scalability.
     
  • LLM Integration:
    Spearhead the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve user interactions, automate decision-making, and enhance safety insights.
     
  • User-Centric Design:
    Ensure the platform’s front-end interface is intuitive, beautiful, and user-friendly, empowering customers to act on complex safety data with ease.
     
  • Data-Driven Innovation:
    Lead the development of data science models and experimentation frameworks that provide ongoing insights into platform performance and safety analytics.
     
  • Team Building & Leadership:
    Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
     
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    Work closely with executive leadership, product, and business teams to align technical strategy with company goals. Communicate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership Experience:
    10+ years of leadership experience in engineering, particularly in building AI-driven platforms. Proven success in managing high-performing teams and scaling complex products.
     
  • Expertise in AI & Autonomy:
    Strong technical background in AI, machine learning, and autonomous systems, with a focus on real-world applications, especially in safety or mission-critical environments.
     
  • Platform Development & Safety Tech:
    Extensive experience in platform development, with a focus on safety observability, real-time monitoring, and risk management solutions.
     
  • Design & User Experience Leadership:
    Proven ability to lead the development of intuitive, user-friendly interfaces, with a focus on delivering an engaging and actionable user experience.
     
  • Data Science & Statistical Modeling:
    Deep understanding of data science principles, statistical models, and experimentation frameworks. Ability to guide teams in creating data-driven safety analytics tools.
     
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Experience recruiting, mentoring, and growing diverse engineering teams, driving technical excellence and collaboration.
     
  • Strong Communication Skills:
    Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders across technical and business functions.
  • Work Authorization
    Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition of employment. ECR will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Safety-Critical Systems:
    Knowledge of safety-critical or security-focused industries where real-time risk management and observability are essential.
  • Advanced Degree:
    PhD or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Cloud & Distributed Systems:
    Familiarity with cloud-native platforms, microservices architectures, and scalable distributed systems (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Product Management Certification - Pragmatics or equivalent methodology.
  • Product Management and Development for DoD Programs of Record (PORs).
  • DTP2 / SBIR experience for FedGov/DoD programs.

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position is $180,000.00-275,000.00. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Edge Case considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

Washington state applicants only: Full-time employees accrue at least 13 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; and receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
