Description of Role:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Development Manager to lead and develop our team of Business Development Representatives. This role is critical to the success of our business development function, ensuring that our lead development process is efficient, data-driven, and aligned with our growth strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of modern business development processes, tools, and systems, with a proven track record of managing teams and optimizing lead development strategies.
- Lead the Business Development Team: Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Business Development Representatives to ensure top-tier performance in lead development activities.
- Process Optimization: Implement, refine, and optimize the lead development process to ensure leads are effectively nurtured, qualified, and handed off to the sales team for follow-up.
- Tools and Systems Management: Leverage modern CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), lead management software, and business intelligence tools to streamline processes and improve lead conversion rates.
- Collaboration with Sales and Marketing: Work closely with sales and marketing teams to ensure alignment on lead nurturing strategies, development processes, and lead handoff.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Use analytics to measure the effectiveness of lead development activities, identify bottlenecks, and recommend data-backed improvements.
- Training and Development: Conduct ongoing training and development for the lead development team to ensure they are up to date on best practices, tools, and customer engagement strategies.
- Performance Metrics: Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for lead development and continuously analyze results to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead Nurturing & Scoring: Oversee the development and implementation of lead nurturing campaigns and lead scoring models to prioritize sales outreach.
Knowledge and Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in lead qualification, business development, or sales management.
- Proven experience managing a team of business development representatives or inside sales professionals.
- Expertise in CRM platforms and lead qualification tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, or similar.
- Strong understanding of modern sales and business development processes, including inbound/outbound marketing strategies and pipeline management.
- Excellent analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience working in SaaS, technology, or a high-growth industry.
- Familiarity with lead scoring, predictive analytics, and AI-powered tools for lead management.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally and foster collaboration between sales, marketing, and operations teams.
