Job description

Stake is looking for a Software Platform Engineer to join our team at our HQ in Bondi Junction or work from home, 100% remote from anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.

The role

Join Stake to design and build core platform services, libraries, and tooling that empower our engineering teams to deliver scalable and reliable systems. You'll focus on creating reusable components, defining engineering patterns, and providing architectural guidance to streamline development workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reusable Libraries & Patterns: Design and implement reusable libraries for common functionalities like observability, and error handling, and promote best practices for service design and performance.
  • Platform Services & Tooling: Develop and maintain internal services and tools for streamlined software development and operations, including authentication, service discovery, and configuration management.
  • Architectural Guidance: Collaborate on service design patterns and contribute to architectural decisions that enhance system scalability and reliability.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Act as a liaison between platform and product teams, ensuring platform capabilities meet development needs and partnering with DevOps and SRE teams.

Essential Requirements:

  • Software engineering background with experience in Golang (Preferred), Java, or Python
  • Proficiency in developing reusable libraries and defining engineering patterns
  • Experience in designing and maintaining core platform services and internal tooling
  • Understanding of service design patterns and architectural principles for scalable systems.
  • Proficient with containerisation and orchestration using Kubernetes
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills
  • Proficient with cloud platforms, particularly GCP
