Technical Lead - Java

Job Description:

The City of New York – NYCERS is seeking a Technical Lead - Java to develop task automation applications and backend web services for data exchange and integration. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience in Java/J2EE development, API integrations, Salesforce customization, and database management.

Specialty Areas:

• Java Backend Development – Expertise in Java 8+, REST API development, JSON, OAuth, and AJAX.
  

• Database Design & SQL – Experience working with MS SQL (2016-2020), stored procedures, and database optimizations.
  

• Salesforce Development & Integration – Knowledge of Apex coding, Object Management, Flows (Omniscript Designer), Box integration, and DocuSign integration.
  

• Agile & SDLC Management – Experience working in Agile Scrum, Waterfall, and handling production issues and performance tuning.
  

• Project & Stakeholder Management – Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate development tasks independently.
  

Responsibilities:

• Develop Java applications for task automation and backend web services.
  

• Design, develop, and optimize database structures, stored procedures, and SQL queries in MS SQL 2016-2020.
  

• Integrate third-party APIs using RESTful services, JSON, OAuth (JWT), and AJAX.
  

• Lead Salesforce customization, including Apex coding, object management, and bulk data import.
  

• Utilize GIT and Jira for version control and task tracking.
  

• Ensure smooth integration with Box and DocuSign.
  

• Work within Agile Scrum and Waterfall methodologies.
  

• Create and maintain technical documentation for applications and integrations.
  

• Troubleshoot production and performance issues as needed.
  

Skill Matrix:

Mandatory Requirements:

• 10-15 years of experience in Java/J2EE application development.
  

• Hands-on expertise in Java 8+, API integrations, MS SQL databases, and Agile SDLC processes.
  

• Strong ability to manage development tasks independently and prioritize based on business impact.
  

• Experience with Salesforce Apex coding, Vlocity Omniscript Designer, and API integrations.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with government agencies (State, City, or Federal).
  

• IBM HATS 8.0 & Copado experience.
  

• Pension System experience.
  

• Experience integrating DocuSign & Box with Java/Salesforce.
  

• Strong problem-solving, documentation, and performance tuning skills.
