DIRECTOR, GLOBAL MARKET ACCESS

 

SUMMARY: 

The Director, Global Market Access will play a critical role in the growth of Ionis and its transformation into a fully integrated biotechnology organization, by shaping clinical and commercial development programs through strategic pricing and market access requirements for US and other key global markets, with a focus on select assets across Ionis’ pipeline. This individual will also closely partner with the US market access team.

This position will report to the Executive Director, Head of Global Market Access, and will work to lead, coordinate, and support the development of market access and pricing strategies and resources with the goal of achieving optimal market access for Ionis’ pipeline products.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Develop asset specific global market access strategy, leveraging required payer insights, to ensure robust and validated pricing and reimbursement assumptions
  • Support the effort to integrate payer requirements into our clinical and evidence-based assessments and evaluations
  • Address reimbursement and pricing potential for US and other key global markets and gain scientific advice on clinical development plans to ensure design, endpoints and analyses provide the required evidence for payer and HTA submissions and are reflected in target product
  • Generate initial payer value propositions that are aligned with the product’s target product profile
  • Collaborate with functions such as Commercial, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Clinical Development, Portfolio Planning & Market Insights and Regulatory to ensure understanding of global payer markets and emerging stakeholders in the reimbursement area
  • Manage external partners/vendors to conduct market research on the access landscape, payer unmet needs, current standard of care, value proposition, pricing and
  • Support Business Development efforts for any in-license or out-licensing opportunities

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Understanding of the Global market access landscape, and how strategy and HEOR evidence supports access decisions
  • Rare disease, orphan, or ultra-orphan product experience highly desirable
  • Experience in managing multiple projects across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Undergraduate bachelor’s degree required, preferred in science with at least 15 years of experience in Pricing and Market Access

  • Science-based post-graduate degree or MBA preferred with at least 12 years of experience in Pricing and Market Access

  • Experience in developing market access strategies for US and other key global markets, with a knowledge of pricing policy, regulations, and healthcare dynamics.
  • Understanding of regulatory agency requirements or policies that govern market approval, and the impact on reimbursement decisions
  • Strong leadership and communication skills that can foster positive engagement with cross-functional partners
  • This position is fully remote and travel is required up to 30%

The pay scale for this position is $208,624 to $274,514
