The Role

The Contracts Associate role will play a critical contracting function in a high-volume, fast paced environment. The role will interact with both internal and external parties to efficiently manage the contracting lifecycle for commercial agreements and retail banking end-customer agreements.

Who we’re looking for:

This is a part-time position, typically 20-25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a flexible schedule.

We are looking for an experienced contracts professional to manage the entire contract lifecycle for high-volume commercial and end-customer agreements, from initial drafting to ongoing revisions and management. You thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth environment and enjoy working both independently and with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.

*This role is open to candidates based in the United States, with preference for candidates based in New York City or Washington, DC.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Support high-volume contracting function within the legal team  

  • Review and draft contractual documentation for standard retail banking services agreements (e.g., deposit agreements, cardholder agreements, borrower agreements), ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

  • Understand and interpret legal provisions related to deposit account and payment services.

  • Collaborate with various departments to facilitate contract drafting and execution.

  • Manage the contract lifecycle, including initiation, negotiation, execution, and amendments.

  • Provide support to the legal team in managing a portfolio of contracts and legal documents.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of contracts and any amendments for internal reference and auditing purposes.

  • Assist in the development of contract management tools, templates, and processes.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A contract manager, paralegal, or J.D. with 4+ years of experience drafting and managing commercial contracts and retail banking agreements.

  • Understanding of contract law and risk management principles.

  • Experience and/or interest in regulatory matters relating to digital banking, bank partnerships, third-party risk management, and financial regulation in consumer and small business finance, payments, and/or banking (including Reg E, NACHA operating rules, UCC 4A, UDAAP, Reg DD, Reg CC).

  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to review, interpret, and redline contractual documents.

  • Ability to identify and assess contractual risks and recommend appropriate actions to responsible parties.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex contractual concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and contract management software.

  • Operates as an owner and drives accountability for assigned tasks
