Senior Legal Advisor - Wholesale Lending

Multitude Bank is our wholesale lending business, providing credit facilities and payment solutions to non-bank lenders and FinTechs. Regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority, we focus on security, innovation, and financial ecosystem growth.

We are seeking a Senior Legal Advisor to join our Multitude Bank team. In this pivotal role, you will act as the primary legal liaison for our wholesale lending business, ensuring secure and compliant debt origination processes. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external legal firms across Europe, ensuring regulatory adherence and structuring of complex secured debt products.

Your Focus:

• Primary Liaison: Act as the primary liaison between the bank and external legal firms to ensure efficient and seamless debt origination.
• Secure Debt Origination: Oversee the secure and diligent origination of debt facilities, ensuring adherence to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support debt origination activities.
• European Legal Landscape: Develop and maintain an extensive understanding of the legal landscape across European countries, focusing on debt origination regulations and securitization law.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal departments, including business units, finance, risk, and compliance, to ensure alignment on debt origination processes, licence and regulatory requirements.
• Document Review: Review and assess legal documents and agreements produced by external legal partners related to debt origination.
• Regulatory Compliance: Identify and address pertinent legal and regulatory questions with external legal firms and internal stakeholders.
• Expert Legal Advice: Provide expert legal advice and guidance on debt origination matters to senior management and other relevant parties.
• Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor and communicate changes in relevant laws and regulations to the appropriate internal teams.
• Documentation Accuracy: Ensure all legal documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Process Improvement: Support the continuous improvement of debt origination processes and procedures.
• Professionalism Under Pressure: Maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations, especially when facing tight deadlines.
  

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Law degree (LL.M. or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Valid legal qualification to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction.
• 10+ years of experience in a legal role, with a focus on debt origination or related fields.
• Expertise in secured debt structuring and legal frameworks across European markets.
• Strong analytical and research skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Fluency in English (additional European languages are a plus).
• Proven ability to work under pressure and manage multiple high-stakes transactions.
• Experience in the banking or financial services industry.
• Familiarity with legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
