Position Overview

For the AIOps / Observability team we are looking for a highly motivated Site Reliability Engineering Intern to join our team. As a Cloud Operations Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for supporting us in enhancing our observability and visualization. You will work with experienced Site Reliability Engineers and under direct supervision of Lead Site Reliability Engineer. The ideal candidate will have solid understanding of observability tooling, Web Applications and relevant frontend languages.

Capstone Overview

The capstone project, "Performance and Stress Testing with Grafana K6," aims to evaluate the performance and scalability of applications under high usage to ensure proper resource sizing. The project is divided into two phases: the first involves training on the Grafana stack, learning about Grafana K6 and its scripting languages (JS/TS), analyzing the target applications (Grafana Mimir and Actian Data Platform Console), and understanding observability use cases. The second phase focuses on documenting the architecture for stress testing the Actian Data Platform Console, identifying key performance metrics, developing and validating testing scripts, and creating a Grafana dashboard to visualize results. Deliverables include the developed test scripts and a dashboard showcasing application behavior under stress. This project provides hands-on experience in observability, performance testing, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), while also benefiting the organization by assessing existing testing scripts, developing new ones, and providing visualized test results to facilitate the adoption of performance testing methodologies across applications and environments.

Responsibilities:

Willingness to dig deep into code, networking, operating systems, and/or storage solutions to solve complex issues

Develop automation and monitoring tools to ensure system reliability

Participate in incident response and troubleshooting

Identify and address performance bottlenecks

Collaborate with development teams to ensure software design meets operational requirements

Continuously improve processes and procedures to increase system reliability and efficiency

Nice to have:

Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Experience in software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Bash).

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience with observability and logging technologies

Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform

Experience with Grafana and Loki

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes

Requirements:
