OVERVIEW:
The Senior Manager, Technology Resilience and Continuity will own the business resiliency program for the company, spanning both business and technology while partnering with key executive and tactical stakeholders. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for developing and implementing DICK’S resilience strategies to enhance organizational readiness, prepare for adversity, and maintain continuous operations through business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management. You will oversee small to mid-size projects and project/team-level activities, working closely with stakeholders across product teams and business functions to ensure successful execution and value delivery. This role focuses on strengthening the resilience of operational business processes from a technology perspective and improving the business continuity posture of technology within DICK’S Sporting Goods. Additionally, you will drive alignment, manage dependencies across projects and product/technology teams, and ensure consistency in execution and deliverables, ultimately delivering value for athletes and teammates.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Resilience & Program Leadership
Design, implement, and oversee adherence to business resilience policies, standards, guidelines, and training to ensure stakeholder compliance.
Act as a thought leader and subject matter expert on all resilience activities, identifying emerging risks and opportunities for program enhancements.
Oversee resilience improvement initiatives, including scope, roadmap, budget, staffing, and vendor contracts.
Deliver key risk indicator (KRI) analytics via reports and dashboards to identify trends and drive accountability.
Lead business continuity and disaster recovery (BC/DR) programs, including risk/threat assessments, business impact analysis, plan development, maintenance, testing, and continuous improvement.
Partner with infrastructure teams to transition from reactive disaster recovery to proactive resilience through automation, self-healing architectures, and auto-failover mechanisms.
Oversee resilience program exercises and disaster recovery testing, ensuring remediation of deficiencies and communicating risks to leadership.
Support incident response and crisis management efforts by facilitating business continuity and recovery processes.
Manage resilience technology systems and vendor relationships, contribute to budgets, and respond to internal audits and compliance inquiries.
Program & Portfolio Management
Drive cross-functional project execution by defining scope, managing risks/issues, and ensuring stakeholder alignment.
Provide governance through reporting, monitoring, escalation, and controls.
Facilitate strategic planning and portfolio management, ensuring alignment between business and technology priorities.
Drive continuous improvement in program methodologies, collaboration practices, and ways of working.
Manage dependencies, resource alignment, and integrated planning across product, business, and technology teams.
Oversee portfolio-level reporting, ensuring financial tracking aligns with value delivery.
Execution & Delivery
Develop and maintain project schedules, roadmaps, and milestone tracking.
Lead planning sessions, standups, retrospectives, and other delivery ceremonies.
Track and report progress, including velocity, burndown, and key milestones.
Manage epics, features, and backlog priorities across projects.
Drive change management, communications, and stakeholder engagement.
Remove impediments and shield teams from external interruptions.
Learning & Team Leadership
Mentor and develop business resilience analysts, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
Cultivate a culture of collaboration and accountability across stakeholders.
Actively engage in self-learning, staying current on industry best practices in resilience, Agile methodologies, program management, and change management.
Lead lessons-learned initiatives and contribute to communities of practice focused on modern engineering and business resilience.
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
5-7 years of relevant work experience, with 1-3 years’ experience in a retail and eCommerce environment.
1-3 years of highly effective scrum management experience leading product and technology teams, as well as experience with Agile-based tools.
Experience and knowledge of organizational change management principles, methodologies, and tools
Experience managing alignment across programs, projects, or product teams in an enterprise environment
Proficient in the planning and execution of programs and projects and risk mitigation strategies
Proficient in project management execution in a modern software environment via multiple methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, etc.)
Experience translating ideas, approaches, and dependencies between technical and functional team members
Experience communicating program status, risks, issues, and needs to senior leaders, and managing up
Proficient in managing and growing team members in a professional setting
Strong communication and presentation skills
Proficient in effective troubleshooting and issue resolution techniques
Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences
Good Knowledge of Retail E-Commerce Domain
Exposure to a CI/CD toolchain
Understanding of modern microservice-based architectures and methodologies
Experience with Agile Development and knowledge on Agile Deployment practices
Degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology;
OCM or Change Management Professional Certification
DRII (Disaster Recovery Institute International) certification or BCI (Business Continuity Institute) certification (preferred not required)
Fusion Risk Management administer experience preferred
Agile / Scrum certification (preferred, not required)
PMP certification or knowledge (preferred, not required)
