About the Internship Program:

 

Over the course of 11 weeks, a select group of college and university students will join us remotely, gaining valuable work experiences and insights into our most exciting products. Interns engage with Wizards’ beloved brands, gaining meaningful work-experience through day-to-day training, hands-on projects, executive exposure, individual development planning and mentorship.   • Our program runs between June 9 - August 22, 2025.

  • Our internships are paid!

 

We are on the lookout for someone to aid us in mapping our worlds, and constructing intriguing play spaces for our players. This role collaborates with other concept artists, art directors, graphic designers, and game designers to build products that bring happiness to millions of D&D fans. Passionate, collaborative Concept Artists like you are key to continue growing and evolving D&D.

 

What you'll do:

  • Create original map and environment concepts, including extrapolating ideas from visual and written direction

  • Redesign existing concepts

  • Support art director/designers/creative team in creating and implementing brand visual identity

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited, degree-seeking program pursuing a major in fine art, graphic design, illustration/ concept art, animation, or game design, or equivalent major with at least one quarter or semester left after August 2025.

  • Available to work full-time hours for 11 weeks.

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.

  • Ability to digitally create: Sketches (rough preliminary concept sketches), Silhouette roughs (silhouette shape explorations), Detail drawings (detailed finished drawings), Color roughs (color roughs, managing design color palette), and Finished color illustrations (final illustrations if required).

  • Ability to work with the following subject matter (fantasy genre): Environments (buildings, architectural motifs, landscapes), and Maps (2D maps in varying styles and formats).

  • Possessing a portfolio showing examples of the above types of work

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.

  • Ability to eagerly embrace challenges head-on and the confidence to propose creative solutions.

  • Ability to take direction and work within scope constraints.

  • A strong sense of accountability, responsibility and pride regarding this position and the projects that are assigned.

  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in other Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)

  • Studies or training in Concept Art, Visual Arts, Illustration, or related subjects.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Prior internship or work experience in a professional environment in the games industry

 

Compensation Range, Currency USD:

  • Starting Pay Range: $29/hr

  • Pay Range End: $33/hr
