Position Overview The Business Development Manager- Indo Pacific is responsible for the pursuit of business within the Indo-Pacific region, with a focus on the US Military and INDOPACOM. The individual promotes Sea Machines Maritime autonomy and sensors, sold as a kit, or served as a turnkey service to international Naval forces, Coast Guards and Government bodies, as well as boat builders through teaming arrangements. The individual takes the lead in shaping and responding to RFI’s and RFP’s as well as proactively finding, creating and tracking business partnership opportunities across the globe.
This role requires experience in winning and managing programs within the US DoD, with knowledge of government contract vehicles and processes with allied nations in the region. The individual must possess a strong understanding of marine machinery and has a strong network specific to the marine industry and within the INDOPACOM organization. The role requires excellent writing skills and the ability to effectively promote Sea Machines technology at marketing events and industry panels. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Global Sales and is based on the West Coast of the USA, with a preference for San Diego.
Primary Objectives and Traits
Strong understanding of government contracting in the international arena.
Shape/create new opportunities by following activity amongst the marine defense industry.
Monitor and respond to US GOVT & international opportunities available for tender.
Form winning proposals in response to RFI’s and RFP’s, deliver on quarterly and annual sales objectives.
Lead and participate teaming efforts with other companies to make the winning solution.
Diligently and swiftly respond to qualified contacts from web registrations, promotions, events and other marketing and sales activities.
Organize the preparation of compelling presentations and deliver with excellence.
Lead demonstration efforts and organize on water sea trial events and customer training/exercises.
Track, maintain the digital database, and enter sales and new business data in CRM.
Contribute to fresh ideas for the content marketing team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
5 years minimum, experience working in the Marine/Maritime industry.
5 years minimum working in an international sales/capture role with government customers.
Expert knowledge of marine vessels, navigation equipment and vessel systems.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Civilian Military Experience or extensive “At Sea” service in a leadership role.
Experience with USV offerings, or Captain’s Credentials are favorable.
Travel expectations, up to 50%
Tier one writing and presentation skills, and able to maximize use of MS Office capabilities.
Multi-Lingual is a plus.
