Job description

Overview

Terraform has redefined how infrastructure is provisioned and managed, but infrastructure management doesn’t stop at deployment. Terraform is seeking to expand beyond traditional provisioning workflows into Day 2 Operations, enabling teams to manage the full lifecycle of infrastructure resources.

We're looking for an experienced Product Manager to help design the next evolution of Terraform workflows, enabling continuous, automated infrastructure management. You'll play a pivotal role in developing innovative workflows, enhancing user experiences, and defining how Terraform becomes an essential operations platform.

Responsibilities
  • Product Strategy and Vision:
    • Define and execute the strategy for Day 2 Operations
    • Develop compelling workflows around Day 2 Operations and automation.
Workflow and Experience Design:
    • Build first-class workflows for defining, automating, and executing Day 2 Workflows
    • Provide a structured and intuitive way to codify operational tasks, ensuring teams can standardize best practices in infrastructure operations.
Roadmap Prioritization and Delivery
    • Own and manage the roadmap, prioritizing high-impact workflows that improve infrastructure management.
    • Develop and maintain Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and collaborate with engineering to bring Day 2 Operations to life.
  • Go-to-Market Support:
    • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and support teams to position Day 2 Operations as the de facto tool for infrastructure operations.
    • Engage with Terraform practitioners and enterprise customers to iterate and refine workflows based on real-world operational needs.
Skills and Experience
  • 5+ years of product management experience with developer tools, infrastructure automation, or cloud operations.
  • Deep understanding of Terraform, Infrastructure-as-Code, and Cloud Operations (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with incident management, observability tools, and runbook automation.
  • Strong technical acumen with a focus on workflow design and automation in large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, SRE, incident response, and security) to build operational tools.
  • Strong research, analytical, and prioritization skills, with a focus on designing high-impact workflows for infrastructure practitioners.
Attributes We Look For in Product Managers at HashiCorp
  • Humility: You listen to understand and collaborate effectively, recognizing the importance of community and teamwork.
  • Curiosity: You’re constantly exploring new ways to improve workflows and deliver value to both open-source users and enterprise customers.
  • Ownership: You take responsibility for driving product success, balancing immediate needs with long-term strategic vision.
  • Clear Communication: You have the ability to explain complex ideas simply and effectively, ensuring alignment across teams and stakeholders.
  • Reflective: You embrace feedback and seek continuous improvement in your work and the products you manage.
Skills You Will Practice as a Product Manager at HashiCorp
  • Defining the product roadmap and strategy for a new category of Terraform workflows.
  • Collaborating with engineering and design to create seamless Day 2 Operations tooling for infrastructure management.
  • Conducting customer research to understand how teams manage infrastructure post-provisioning.
  • Developing automation-first workflows that integrate with Terraform Cloud and other operational platforms.
  • Managing a product backlog to deliver impactful features.
  • Collaborating with engineering and design to enhance workflows and create commercial differentiation for enterprise customers.
  • Enabling go-to-market teams (sales, support, marketing) with product insights, messaging, and competitive differentiation.
Why HCP Terraform?

Terraform has revolutionized infrastructure provisioning, but true infrastructure management goes beyond deployment. With Day 2 Operations we are redefining how organizations manage infrastructure throughout its lifecycle.

By leading this initiative, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Terraform as a full-lifecycle infrastructure platform. Your work will empower teams to automate critical operational tasks, codify best practices, and ensure infrastructure remains reliable, compliant, and resilient.

This is your opportunity to define the next evolution of Terraform workflowsmoving beyond infrastructure provisioning to full-stack automation.
