Principal Computational Scientist

Overview

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Principal Computational Scientist in Scientific Affairs, you will lead efforts at the interface of product development and evidence generation to advance the performance, clinical adoption, and patient access of Myriad’s products. You will use your computational biology expertise, in collaboration with internal R&D and clinical teams, to carry out studies on existing or nascent Myriad technologies/products. Your focus on quality and innovation will be critical to Myriad’s successful partnerships with leading academic centers and biopharma companies and will help our products reach their full potential.

Responsibility

• Design and execute research and clinical studies, analyze the data from those studies, and ensure successful completion
• Author and review scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and conference presentations to communicate key findings and innovations from Myriad’s research efforts, often in direct collaboration with partners in academia, pharma, and community medicine
• Distill learnings from research and clinical data to identify areas of improvement in our assays, and as appropriate, actively implement those improvements
• Mentor and guide junior scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration; may directly supervise up to 2 junior scientists and/or analysts
• Use technical expertise to stay current with advancements in genomics, bioinformatics, and oncology, ensuring Myriad remains at the forefront of diagnostic innovation
  
  
  

Qualifications

• PhD with 6+ years of industry experience in applying genomic technologies for clinical applications or product development
• Strong computational skills with fluency in Python and use of software-engineering best practices
• Track record of scientific communication, such as through peer-reviewed publications and presenting at national conferences
• Experience developing analysis methods, algorithms, and pipelines, particularly with next generation sequencing (NGS) data
• Experience leading projects that span multiple departments
• Experience mentoring or managing scientists and analysts
• Working knowledge of nucleic acid chemistry and genetics
• Preferred experience in R&D with non-invasive technologies, oncology, and regulated clinical diagnostic products (CLIA, FDA)
  
  
  

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements – light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements – stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
