Job description

Job Description:

On behalf of our healthcare client, Affinity Healthcare Solutions is looking for Senior Healthcare Integration Architect(s) to work with the Systems Integration Services team to define and propose integration strategies for migrating away from the existing eight CIS systems and all their ancillary systems into a consolidated CIS, as well as designing integration solutions between the consolidated CIS and existing or new ancillary systems.


Responsibilities:

• Responsible for Integration Architecture Blueprint

• Define and implement integration strategies and guiding principles for replacing multiple existing Clinical Information Systems with a single, consolidated system

• Define a CIS implementation strategy for CIS integration solutions

• Create high-level architecture diagrams and documents describing system integrations, including:

o System architecture overview

o Integration touchpoints and data flow

o Integration protocols (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, etc.)

o Middleware and platform selection

o Security and compliance considerations

• Responsible for Integration Design Specifications, including:

o Detailed specifications for each interface or integration point

o Data formats and standards (FHIR, HL7 v2/v3, CDA)

o APIs or web services used for integration

o Mapping between source and target systems’ data models

o Error handling and data validation rules

o Frequency and timing of data exchange (real-time, batch)

• Work directly with customers and support teams to define requirements and present solutions

• Ensure alignment with design documentation

• Responsible for Data Mapping and Transformation Rules, including:

o Field-by-field mapping document

o Data transformation logic (e.g., converting data formats, units)

o Handling of missing or incomplete data

o Data consistency checks

• Responsible for Integration Test Plans, including:

o Test cases for each interface

o End-to-end test scenarios

o Testing methodology (unit tests, integration tests, user acceptance tests)

o Success criteria for each test

o Tools and resources required for testing

o Documentation around handling failures

• Responsible for Security and Compliance Assessments, including:

o Encryption methods for data at rest and in transit

o Access control policies

o Compliance with relevant laws and standards

o Audit trails and logging requirements

o Data retention and deletion policies

• Responsible for Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) illustrating:

o Context-level and detailed integration touchpoints

o Data sources and destinations

o Data flow paths, including transformations or intermediate systems

• Responsible for System Interaction Diagrams, including:

o Sequence diagrams showing system communication

o API interactions

o Protocols and message formats used

• Responsible for Implementation Roadmap, including:

o Key milestones for integration (e.g., design completion, testing, go-live)

o Resource allocation

o Timeline with dependencies

o Risk assessment and mitigation plan

• Responsible for Change Management and Support Plan, including:

o Technical leadership and best practices for integration

o Training plan for staff on new integrations

o Documentation of new processes and procedures

o Support and troubleshooting guide

o Incident response procedures

• Responsible for Documentation of the Integration Environment, including:

o Configuration details of middleware, APIs, and messaging queues

o Overview of the staging, development, and production environments

o Network and infrastructure requirements

• Responsible for Performance and Scalability Plan, including:

o Performance testing criteria (response time, throughput)

o Load balancing and fault tolerance strategies

o Scalability requirements for handling increased data or system load

• Responsible for Post-Implementation Monitoring and Maintenance Plan, including:

o System monitoring tools and metrics

o Incident management and escalation process

o Long-term maintenance schedule (e.g., updates, patches)

• Provide technical expertise and support to the Systems Integration Services team

Requirements:

Mandatory:

• A University degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is preferred but an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• A minimum of seven (7) years of IM/IT experience.

• A minimum of five (5) or more years of demonstrated experience leading integration architecture in the healthcare sector.

• A minimum of three (3) or more years of demonstrated combined experience using HL7 v2x and FHIR to integrate healthcare solutions.

• A minimum of three (3) or more years of demonstrated combined experience using MS BizTalk Server and MS Azure Integration Services.

• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English.

o Specific healthcare systems involved (vendor and product)

• 2 years of Demonstrated experience with HL7 v2x and/or FHIR in Microsoft Azure Integration Services, specifically Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions and/or Azure API Management. Reference engagements that demonstrate experience and describe role and responsibilities.

• Clearly demonstrate:

o Summery of referenced engagements

o Duration of referenced engagements

o Types of systems that were being integrated

o Specific healthcare systems involved (vendor and product)

o The Azure Integration Service product(s) that was leveraged

• 1 project as a reference of demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of highly available integration architectures. Reference engagements that demonstrate experience and describe role and responsibilities.

• Clearly demonstrate:

o Summery of referenced engagements

o Duration of referenced engagements

• 1 project as a reference of demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of disaster recovery integration architectures. Reference engagements that demonstrate experience and describe role and responsibilities.

o Specific Azure Integration Services products used

• Demonstrated experience with integration solutions exchanging data between a hospitals core Clinical Information Systems (Health Information Systems) and ancillary systems or other Clinical Information Systems (Health Information Systems) would be an asset.
