We are looking for a highly skilled Staff PHP Engineer to join our team, responsible for developing and maintaining high-performance PHP applications. As a Staff Engineer, you will contribute to the modernization of our web application, applying your expertise in PHP development and performance optimization. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of hands-on PHP experience and a strong understanding of observability tools like Dynatrace to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues.
What You’ll Be Doing As A Part of Our Team
Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable PHP applications, ensuring their continued optimization and reliability.
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex performance issues, leveraging observability tools such as Dynatrace to monitor application behavior.
Collaborate with other engineers to architect and implement improvements to the PHP application, ensuring it aligns with best practices and performance goals.
Participate in performance optimization efforts, identifying bottlenecks and working to improve system efficiency.
Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, while adhering to best practices for software design and development.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and QA, to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.
Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on coding standards, problem-solving, and performance optimization.
Contribute to the evolution of our engineering practices, promoting continuous learning and improvement across the team.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and innovations in PHP development and performance monitoring.
What You Should Have To Qualify
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of hands-on experience in PHP development, with a deep understanding of PHP frameworks such as Zend.
Experience with data tools such as MySQL, Memcache, ElastiCache, and Elasticsearch, with a focus on optimizing data storage and retrieval for high-performance applications.
Familiarity with caching strategies and performance optimizations using tools like Memcache and ElastiCache to improve application speed and responsiveness.
Proven experience optimizing the performance of PHP applications and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks.
Experience with observability tools like Dynatrace to monitor application performance, identify issues, and implement solutions.
Strong knowledge of web application design patterns, performance tuning, and scalability.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools (Docker).
Experience with full-stack development, including front-end technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, CSS) and back-end PHP integrations.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to analyze complex systems and debug issues.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ideally, You Would Also Have These
Familiarity with microservices architecture and service-oriented designs.
Experience with API development and optimization.
Hands on experience with Node.JS and React.JS.
Understanding of best practices for PHP security, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
Experience in Healthcare IT is beneficial, but not required.
