Job description

As our new Senior Test Engineer, you’ll partner with other test engineers, data and analytics engineers, data scientists and data visualisation specialists. As a wider data team, our priority is the delivery of high-quality, well-modelled, clean, and trustworthy data assets for use across the business. What You’ll Be Doing

  • You’ll work with the wider delivery team to assess the appropriate level of testing for each piece of work, followed by the planning, execution and documentation of testing carried out.
  • You’ll guide the test effort within your team to ensure that work is completed to time and quality goals.
  • You’ll work with our Test Leads and Test Manager to continually improve our data test practices and processes.
  • You’ll help to develop Agile Data Testing methodologies and Automated Data Testing processes.
  • You’ll mentor more junior colleagues, helping them develop their technical and non-technical skills and supporting their progression.


What You’ll Have

  • You’ll have prior mentoring experience or be willing to develop skills in this area to support the growth of our data testing practice.
  • You’ll have expertise across all parts of the testing process; including test planning, estimation, execution, defect management, reporting and escalation, ideally in a data-related team (e.g. data warehousing, data engineering, reporting, data visualisation).
  • Any test certification such as ISTQB would be highly desirable.
  • You’ll have experience working in a fast-paced Agile delivery environment with a focus on rapid delivery of business value through iterative development and testing approaches.
  • You’ll be skilled in the use of SQL and comfortable writing complex queries and working with large, complex datasets within a data-rich environment.


You’ll have experience of data testing on one or more of the following technology platforms (cloud data platform experience preferred): -

  • Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCS, Google Cloud Composer, GKE, Cloud Functions, BiqQuery)
  • Snowflake Cloud Data Platform
  • dBt Data Transformation Framework
  • Tableau Data Visualisation Platform
