Do you want to be part of one of Europe's fastest-growing climate tech startups? We are looking for a Climate Lead with a strong growth mindset to play an elementary role in helping us transform every company into a sustainable business. This is a high-impact role with critical responsibility and influence on our product and overall venture development.

Your mission: In this unique role, you will play a pivotal role in guiding our approach to corporate and product carbon accounting and management, and ensuring compliance with evolving climate disclosure requirements. You will manage a team of carbon accounting, reporting and decarbonization specialists, collaborating closely with product managers and other internal teams to shape our product strategy.

As Climate Lead, you will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing and passionate team of domain experts. You will ensure the delivery of scalable and impactful R&D efforts that deliver the insights needed for developing the Cozero platform in line with the latest science, regulations and market requirements.

For this role, you can be based in Germany (Hamburg, Cologne, Bonn, Dusseldorf, Munich or Berlin), Portugal (Lisbon) or UK (London).

What You Will Do

Team Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and mentor a team of four climate specialists & analysts, supporting their growth and performance.
  • Oversee team hiring, onboarding, and professional development.
  • Structure team workflows, meetings, and ways of working to maximize efficiency and impact.
  • Set team objectives and key results (OKRs) aligned with company goals

Product & Company Strategy

  • Provide subject-matter expertise on climate-related challenges such as scope 3 emissions accounting, supplier engagement and decarbonization planning.
  • Stay ahead of carbon accounting standards and regulations (e.g. GHG Protocol, ISO 14064/14067/ISO14083, SBTi, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, CBAM).
  • Develop and refine methodologies for corporate and product carbon accounting, ensuring compliance, consistency, and scientific rigor.
  • Support the development of processes to ensure accuracy and quality in GHG footprint calculations, including the sourcing of high quality LCA data
  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to integrate best-in-class carbon accounting & decarbonization methodologies into our SaaS platform.
  • Contribute to company & product strategy, ensuring our climate insights and methodologies align with customer needs and regulatory developments.

Thought Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the company in discussions with clients, partners, auditors, regulators, and/or industry groups on climate topics.
  • Develop educational resources and internal documentation on carbon accounting and decarbonization best practice
  • Support sales and customer success teams by providing technical expertise in client engagements.

Who You Are

  • Expert in Carbon Accounting & Decarbonization: You have deep knowledge of corporate/product carbon footprinting, and decarbonization planning, with hands-on experience in multiple sectors (ideally logistics, manufacturing & FMCG).
  • Strategic Leader: You have experience leading and developing teams, setting strategy, and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Data-Driven Problem Solver: You enjoy analyzing complex climate datasets and translating them into actionable insights.
  • Tech-Savvy: Experience working in a SaaS environment and an understanding of how technology can enhance carbon management.
  • Regulatory & Standards Knowledge: You stay updated on emerging climate standards and frameworks.
  • Strong Communicator: You can translate complex technical topics into clear, accessible language for different audiences, bridging the gap between the climate-science and tech worlds.
  • Passionate About Climate Action: You are driven by a mission to make a real impact in global decarbonization efforts.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in product research and development in an early stage SaaS environment.
  • Programming skills in Python and SQL (or a willingness to learn)
