Job Role: Mainframe Storage Optimisation.

Description: We are seeking a dedicated Senior Observability Engineer with specialised experience in Open Telemetry, Dynatrace, Grafana, Honeycomb, Gremlin, automation development and cloud frameworks. This role is ideal for someone who excels in automation, monitoring, and observability within a Cloud Platform environment (AWS and Azure) and has a strong background in implementing platform solutions that can handle multiple observability tools. The candidate should be adept at working remotely and on premises, showcasing exceptional communication abilities, and possess the skills to innovatively and independently address intricate challenges.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of experience in cloud, observability or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing OpenTelemetry solutions.
• Experience in cloud-based monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Hands on development experience.
  
  

Essential Qualifications

• Proficient in leading, implementing and managing the observability tools in the cloud and on prem, with a focus on Open Telemetry frameworks.
• Terraform Experience.
• Kubernetes experience.
• Solid understanding of cloud-based architectures, particularly within the AWS and Azure Cloud Platform.
• Experience in scripting and automation for integrating observability tools in cloud and on prem environments.
• Ability to work on prem and in a remote setting, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in a cloud context.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues using monitoring and observability tools.
• Proven track record of enhancing system performance and reliability through effective observability.

• Lead and manage a group of developers.
• Possess the ability to think outside of the box.
• Figure ways to standardize manual tasks and then automate the process to remove human interaction
• Implement and manage observability and monitoring solutions on cloud and on prem, leveraging observability (eg. OpenTelemetry) frameworks.
• Build observability solutions to ensure high availability and performance of applications and services in the cloud and on prem.
• Collaborate and work with development teams coding solutions to integrate observability tools and practices into the development lifecycle.
• Help layout the governance and standards for implementing observability across the development cycle.
• Lead detailed analysis and troubleshooting of complex system issues using observability tools.
• Lead the effort to develop custom instrumentation, metrics, and logs to enhance monitoring capabilities.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in cloud and on prem observability tools that integrate with OpenTelemetry.
• OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace and Grafana are mandatory.

Location: Full remote, based in Spain, ideally Barcelona.
