Job description

This is a remote position. Candidates must be located in Southern California.

For over 89 years, we have worked to create trusting relationships with our fire family. The bonds we build are the foundation of our credit union. As the largest, exclusive firefighter credit union in the nation with over $2.0B in assets, we serve over 64,000 members in more than 1,000 fire departments. 


Currently, we have an immediate opening for a Trust Relationship Officer to join our team. The Trust Relationship Officer is responsible for managing the trust services needs of our members and acts as a contact between Attorneys, the Credit Union’s trust services partner, Members Trust Company (MTC), and the members or beneficiaries on all aspects of the trust account relationship, including investments, fiduciary administration, taxes and reporting.  



Primary Responsibilities: 


  • Ensuring quality trust services are rendered to our members.
  • Overseeing discretionary distributions, fiduciary income taxes, estate planning (including Federal estate and gift taxes), generation skipping transfer tax, investments and fiduciary law.
  • Effectively and respectfully corresponding with all members by phone, in person, and in writing (including emails, meetings, and voice mails) with accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.  
  • Collecting, analyzing members’ needs and collaborating with member to create a plan of action for MTC to assist the member in moving closer to achieving their financial goals. 
  • Overseeing discretionary distributions, fiduciary income taxes, estate planning (including Federal estate and gift taxes), generation skipping transfer tax, investments and fiduciary law.
  • Delivering, hosting, and/or participating in educational activities through webinars and/or seminars for members including generation activities.
  • Cultivating strong working relationships and building trust among employees and members.   
  • Providing reports on key departmental metrics and leveraging the reports to support the organization and member’s needs.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance Accounting, Economics or related field.
  • 5 years experience in the delivery of personal trust and investment services


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
  • Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA)
