GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:


We are currently seeking a Portfolio Director, Platform Engineering. The Portfolio Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for a collection of programs focused on delivering advanced Platform Engineering Solutions and fostering the growth of our SRE capabilities. The role has overarching portfolio responsibility for customer relationships, contract delivery, business performance, and account growth. This person will work as a collaborative team member, supporting cross-functional initiatives aligned with the organization's goals and vision. This position will report to the VP, Customer Mission Delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Is a key leader within Mile Two, supporting company leadership in alignment with the organization's goals and vision and embodying the company values.
  • Responsible for all aspects of general management and oversight of programs within the Portfolio.
  • Responsible for P&L, business goals, contractual requirements, and growth initiatives for all programs within the Portfolio.
  • Ensures exceptional customer experience and service delivery for all Portfolio programs from inception to completion.
  • Supports the Mile Two Digital PMO by ensuring team compliance, providing thought leadership, and supporting continual enhancement.
  • Leads the Portfolio’s growth strategies to achieve revenue targets through identifying opportunities, establishing and nurturing relationships, and ensuring successful capture & proposal efforts.
  • Ensures Portfolio operational metrics and program plans (e.g., budgets, schedules, status, and risk reporting) are established, managed, and communicated transparently to the organization.
  • Drives revenue performance to budget, provides internal program reviews, and ensures accurate program forecasts in accordance to Mile Two standard financial processes.
  • Manages toward achieving Exceptional CPARS and customer feedback.
  • Communicates with customers at the appropriate level, and mentors staff in appropriate and beneficial customer knowledge and communications.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of the customer organization and establishes relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Mentors Program Managers, Project Leads, SREs, and others on the team,  fostering their professional development and ensuring succession planning.
  • With complete understanding of Mile Two's capabilities, articulates the value of our company’s expertise to our team, customers, industry partners, and the public.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Profit and Loss management experience of $10M+ per year or demonstrated responsibility for leading multi-disciplined teams on complex/large programs
  • Experience leading small and medium-sized highly technical, multi-functional focused engineering team
  • Consistent track record of achieving business growth through leadership in strategizing, planning, development, and capturing work
  • A highly collaborative leader with outstanding communication skills who excels in partnering with engineering and business development leaders throughout the organization to solve customer problems and win business
  • Supervision experience for an organization of at least 15 team members
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level. Current active security clearance with ability to obtain special access is a plus

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Expertise in cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and related SRE tools and technologies.
  • Experience in leading and executing agile engineering work in support of defense programs, preferably under newly formed organizations
  • Experience in DoD technical proposal writing
  • Deep Familiarity, with preferable direct experience, in agile software cadences – software factories, CICD pipelines, and managing development teams working in these capacities and environments.
  • Breadth of domain experience across the DoD in R&D fields, including Intelligence, military operations, space, air dominance, C2, Joint All Domain, etc.
  • Expertise in digital engineering capacities and understanding their applicability. This may include the model systems based systems engineering, sysml, air force digital efforts and organizations, etc.
