Who Are You?
You have a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering design for buildings and have your Professional Engineer’s license. You know the International Mechanical and Plumbing Code and are familiar with other building codes.
What Will You Do?
In this role, you are the Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing thoughtful design and driving change for the Client. You interface directly with the Client and have high visibility within HFA. You have a strong knowledge of the International Building Codes (ICC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
This is a remote position for the right individual. (Note: HFA has offices in Springfield, MO; Ft. Worth, TX; Bentonville, AR; and Greater Boston, MA)
Job Responsibilities
This Engineer:
Has broad experience in project types and clients.
Can lead a client/client team (1-5 staff) utilizing their education and experience in mechanical and plumbing design with a strong knowledge of the applicable Codes and Standards.
Has a thorough understanding of Energy Codes and how to apply them to HVAC and plumbing design with minimal oversight.
Works in an independent manner on most projects with minimal to no oversight and can solve most design challenges that arise on a project.
Can perform HVAC load calculations, plumbing calculations – e.g., water, waste, vent, and fats, oils and grease (FOGs).
Will mentor junior level Engineers and Designers.
Job Duties
This Engineer:
Functions as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Client.
Trains employees in company standards, drafting techniques, and technical questions pertaining to HVAC and plumbing design and applicable Codes and Standards.
Works in a collaborative environment with Architects, other Engineers, and Designers to develop construction documents based on the Client’s requirements.
Performs a high level of quality control on their projects and others.
Has direct contact with the Client.
Helps establish project budgets and works with the Team to ensure those projects are financially successful.
Proficient in writing specifications.
