Biosite is expanding the team and is looking for a Lead Frontend Engineer to support its growth journey. Joining the R&D team, the Lead Frontend Engineer, reporting directly to the Head of Software, will play an essential role in R&D to drive profitable and sustainable growth, whilst upholding company values.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Frontend Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Angular, React, and TypeScript, with a passion for building scalable, high-quality web applications.

 

Reporting to the Head of Software, the Lead Frontend Engineer will be responsible for leading the development of the frontend stack, ensure best practices are followed, and collaborate closely with backend engineers and UX/UI designers to deliver exceptional user experiences.

Main responsibilities and tasks
  • Lead the design and development of high-performance frontend applications using Angular, React, and TypeScript.
  • Architect scalable and maintainable frontend codebases.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to define API contracts.
  • Work with UX/UI designers to translate designs into functional user interfaces.
  • Ensure code quality through rigorous testing and code reviews.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging frontend technologies and frameworks.
  • Mentor junior developers and promote a culture of technical excellence.
  • Optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability.
Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Frontend Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong expertise in Angular, React, and TypeScript.
  • Experience with NPM.
  • Proficient understanding of CSS.
  • Experience with asynchronous request handling, partial page updates.
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
  • Familiarity with code versioning tools, such as Git.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

 

Salary and benefits
  • Salary commensurate with experience
  • Flexible hours, 37.5 hrs a week with core hours between 10am and 4pm (GMT/BST)
  • 24 days leave, increasing 1 day/year after 2 years of employment
  • Company pension scheme
  • 10% time available to work on your own projects and ideas
Travel
  • The role is fully remote, but occasional travel for team meetings, training, and other ad-hoc events may be required
