Position Location: Remote - work virtually from anywhere in the United States. Those located in Atlanta, GA or Phoenix, AZ area a plus

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Engineer – Design provides leadership and expertise and delegates work for design document deliverables for building automation system (BAS), electrical power monitoring system (EPMS), and software integration design projects in hyperscale data center and similar mission critical / technology sectors.
The Senior Engineer – Design will work with internal and external MEP/FP trade engineers, equipment reps, equipment and product vendors, and BIM / Revit / AutoCAD production resources.
The Senior Engineer – Design will be self-directed on day-to-day work and receive high level instruction on new projects, tasks or assignments. Will execute and lead teams and projects, tasks or assignments of complex scope. This role also will coordinate activities of other personnel and serve as a people manager.
This person will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop and Execute Building Automation Systems Engineering Solutions (55%)
- Serve as client program lead, project trade lead, and SME for BAS and EPMS scope for one or more projects and programs.
- Develop client standards, basis of design (BOD), perform feasibility studies, and assist clients with building automation roadmaps
- Lead designs for DDC and PLC based BAS and EPMS systems
- Design controls network / system architecture including IT / OT requirements
- Select instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves and other field devices
- Coordinate with equipment, system, and product vendors for building automation interface requirements
- Create and review project book and sheet specifications
- Create and review sequence of operations
- Create and review system diagrams and point / alarm lists
- Work closely with client IT departments for network design, interface details, and security requirements
- Provide direction on engineering production aspects with internal and external Revit / BIM resources
Construction Related Process, Deliverables and Submissions (15%)
- Accountable for design document deliverables for design phases including Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Issue For Permit (IFP), Issue For Construction (IFC)
- Lead planning and execution of Construction Administration (CA) phase activities remote and on site
- Lead building automation focused design reviews and page turns
- Participate in internal and external quality control and peer reviews
- Lead internal and external project meeting discussions on engineering scope
Reporting and Communication (15%)
- Manage project communication and reporting
- Prepare project progress reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Manage personal hours using company tools
People Manager (15%)
- Lead, develop, and support the team by setting clear objectives, optimizing workflows, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies.
- Perform routine performance evaluations and 1:1 meetings, offering feedback and defining objectives.
- Manage and execute departmental projects, oversee resource allocation, and serve as the primary contact for employee questions, policy guidance, and conflict resolution.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment through coaching, performance evaluations, effective communication, and continuous development.
- Support team and departmental hiring and recruiting efforts to attract and retain top talent.
Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget
Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned
Requirements
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ADVANCED LEVEL FOR ALL THE FOLLOWING)
- Skilled in navigating clients through BAS project designs including identification of standards, needs, and option evaluation
- Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
- Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management
- Skilled in designing BAS and EPMS packaged in AutoCAD or Revit
- Knowledge of construction design process, stakeholders, deliverables
- Knowledge of code requirements and energy guidelines related to BAS designs
- Knowledge of data center HVAC applications and BAS control strategies including chilled water plants
- Knowledge of IoT and smart building solutions
- Knowledge of Networking including Addressing, VLANs, LANs, Switches and Routers
- Knowledge of open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus and SNMP)
- Knowledge of DDC systems used in building automation designs
- Knowledge of PLC systems used in building automation designs
- Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work successfully in a remote environment thru effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction free workspace
- Ability to follow company and site safety requirements
- Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)
- Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact

TRAVEL / RELOCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Up to 15%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states
- Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction or related discipline
OR
- Two years of experience with hands-on installation, testing, validation and troubleshooting of controls infrastructure
PLUS
- Minimum eight years of additional experience with BAS and EPMS design
- At least half of this experience should be with hyperscale or colocation data center projects
