Job description

The Sr. Functional Solution Architect, Manufacturing & Supply Chain will provide in-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Dynamics D365 SC application and serve as a SME in manufacturing by evaluating the customers’ requirements, business processes and current issues to develop models and provide effective solutions offered by Columbus. We are looking to add a strong professional to our team that can bring an in-depth understanding of manufacturing which includes experience in production execution (production and T&L) and planning (master planning) within the areas of concentration such as discrete and process manufacturing, food and beverage and life sciences.

Note: This is a remote opportunity and can be based from any location in the United States. #LI-Remote.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and architecture of D365 F&O solutions, focusing on Production Control, Master Planning, Inventory Management, and Supply Chain.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand production requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in manufacturing execution, production scheduling, and shop floor control.
  • Define best practices for BOM (Bill of Materials), routing, lean manufacturing, and discrete/process manufacturing within D365.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure solutions align with Microsoft best practices and industry standards.
  • Support data migration, system integration, and third-party software connectivity.
  • Conduct system testing, UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and end-user training.
  • Provide ongoing support and continuous improvement recommendations.

Skill Requirements and Experience:

  • 7+ years of significant industry experience within manufacturing.
  • 7+ years of D365 FSC/AX implementation/consulting experience required.
  • 3 or more Dynamics full life cycle implementations within manufacturing.
  • Microsoft certifications are highly desirable.
  • BA/BS in MIS, Computer Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Supply Chain or Logistics preferred.
  • Expertise in production control, SCM and MRP.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively meet deadlines.
  • Excellent demonstration and presentation skills.
  • A passion for client success and enthusiasm for the products we implement.
  • Ability to travel to provide services to clients; and nationally 30% or more

Desired Requirements:

  • Experience in multi-site and global rollouts of D365.
  • Familiarity with third-party MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) integrations.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and reporting tools.
  • Desire to constantly assess and incorporate new technologies and software into their skillset (i.e. Copilot, AI, PowerApps).
  • Strong project implementation skills (planning, data conversion, module setups, training, project management, reporting)
  • Proactive approach in communicating project status and project risks to all parties, internal and external
