As a Senior Systems Engineer, you are responsible for working closely with business stakeholders across the company as well as other IT team members to continuously improve technology and internal processes. Responsibilities include researching solutions, interfacing with vendors, evaluating software and/or hardware, automating processes through configuration of software and/or scripting, and proactively maintaining environments to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and security requirements. You act as an escalation point for the internal IT team, providing technical assistance, training, and/or mentoring as required. You work closely with IT leadership to document and implement standards, ensure financial efficiency of solutions, and manage complex projects. Monitoring emerging technologies, security events, and other industry news is also a requirement of this role. You work closely with business stakeholders and manage large-scale projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining operating systems, applications, and system management tools, ensuring high levels of availability, security, and performance.
  • Directly support end-users as needed to support escalations or projects
  • Assist in ongoing evaluation and management of IT vendor relationships and outsourcing arrangements
  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase efficiency, automate, and otherwise improve processes and systems.
  • Serve as the ultimate senior level technical escalation point for Engineering and Information Security teams, owning issues until resolved
  • Participate in on-call (PagerDuty) rotation to respond to critical incidents
  • Design, deploy, and maintain best practices for system monitoring, change control, service level agreements, and infrastructure policies and standards
  • Establish strong relationships with key technology stakeholders and facilitate, communicate, collaborate, and persuade others in the definition, adoption and implementation of a coherent architecture
  • Provide senior level technical support, mentoring, training, and guidance to more junior members of the IT team

 

Qualifications 

Minimum Qualifications  

  • 3+ years of experience in enterprise environment
  • 3+ years of experience in supporting Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems and users in a cloud-first modern IT environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, strong problem-solving skills and focus on continuous improvement
  • Strong critical thinking skills, ability to scope dependencies and global impacts while keeping track of the fine details
  • Highly ethical, with a deep sense of responsibility for results and the impact on key stakeholders
  • Ability to continuously learn new technologies and advance skillset
  • In-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Identity Lifecycle Management systems and IDaaS technologies (SAML, OIDC, SCIM, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Duo)
  • Experience administering enterprise IT systems and applications such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Slack, and Zoom
  • Experience with automation, configuration, and integration systems such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Workato, Celigo, etc.
  • Experience writing and maintaining software written in common scription language like PowerShell, bash, and Python.
  • In-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience of PowerShell or other modern scripting language
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
  • Experience with IaaS such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Data Dog and/or Google Chronicle
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and Git
  • Experience working in a face-paced SaaS environment
