Job description

This is a remote position.

The Structural Detailer is responsible for coordinating and preparing 3D Tekla models to meet design information, while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the creation of detailed 2D workshop drawings. This role involves close collaboration with various project stakeholders, including design engineers, fabrication teams, and construction personnel, to resolve design and operational issues. The Structural Detailer will also manage document control and assist in ensuring that all drawings are aligned with established office standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 3D Model Preparation & Coordination:

    • Develop and coordinate 3D Tekla models that accurately reflect structural design specifications.

    • Ensure 3D models align with design information and provide appropriate design solutions.

  • 2D Workshop Detail Drawings:

    • Prepare clear, accurate 2D workshop detail drawings to support fabrication, ensuring compliance with established drawing office standards.

    • Ensure drawings are optimised for the fabrication and assembly process, minimising errors and discrepancies.

  • Document Control:

    • Organise and manage the issuing of design packages for “Issued For Approval” (IFA) and “Issued For Construction” (IFC).

    • Maintain accurate documentation records, ensuring timely distribution of revised drawings and reports.

  • Liaise with Stakeholders:

    • Collaborate with design engineers, fabrication teams, and project managers to address design, detailing, fabrication, and erection challenges.

    • Ensure the efficient flow of communication between all involved parties to facilitate smooth project execution.

  • Consultation with Chief Construction Modeller:

    • Work closely with the Chief Construction Modeller to address any operational or system-related issues.

    • Seek clarification and solutions for complex design or modelling queries, ensuring consistency and alignment with project objectives.

  • Quality Assurance:

    • Conduct regular quality checks on drawings, models, and documentation to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards.

    • Participate in design reviews to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact project timelines.



Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel detailing.
  • Proficient in Tekla Structures for 3D modelling and structural steel detailing.
  • Experienced in preparing 2D workshop drawings to fabrication standards.
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to manage IFA and IFC documentation with attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator, able to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams.
  • Skilled in identifying and resolving design and modelling issues.
  • Diploma or Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Drafting, or related field.
