Job description

Job Title: Senior Project Manager - Transport/Healthcare
Location: Toronto, ON/Remote
Salary: $120,000 - $170,000 (depending on experience)

About the Opportunity:
City Build Recruitment is thrilled to partner with a leading consultancy in search of a dynamic Senior Project Manager with extensive experience in the transportation and healthcare sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead large-scale projects, collaborate closely with clients, and oversee all aspects from financial management to Proposed Change Notice (PCN) execution.

Role Overview:
The Senior Project Manager will drive complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with client expectations. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership skills, financial acumen, and the ability to manage scope changes and stakeholder relationships effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    Negotiate, develop, monitor, and control the scope of deliverables, work plans, schedules, and budgets across all project stages.
  • Develop and manage detailed work plans for all architectural and engineering disciplines, allocate resources effectively, and monitor project progress.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead an integrated team of architects and engineers, ensuring adherence to quality assurance and quality control procedures for all deliverables, including construction drawings and specifications.

Client & Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the primary liaison with the client, contractor, and project team, fostering strong client relationships and managing expectations.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of the project scope and negotiate solutions when scope changes occur, ensuring alignment with client expectations and contractual obligations.

Coordination & Communication:

  • Coordinate with contractors, sub-consultants, and building authorities to address and document issues related to constructability or owner concerns.

Financial Oversight:

  • Oversee project financials, including budget management, cost controls, and forecasting revenue, ensuring projects meet financial performance targets.
  • Develop and manage Proposed Change Notices (PCN), ensuring all stakeholders are informed and changes are executed seamlessly.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in architectural or engineering systems design, including M&E and structural building systems, permit processes, and building codes.
  • Membership with a relevant professional association (OAA) is an asset.
  • Strong experience in strategic development, business development, project management, and client management.
  • Leadership excellence: Demonstrates flexibility, resourcefulness, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Financial Savvy: A solid understanding of project accounting to monitor performance and revenue forecasting.

Required Experience:

  • 15+ years of project management experience, with a focus on large-scale transportation and healthcare projects.
  • Transportation Sector Expertise: Experience with rail, transit, or transportation projects is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with TTC, Metrolinx, or similar organizations is an asset.
