How you make a difference:

The Psychiatrist assumes responsibility for the admission, continuing care, and discharge of individuals served. The Psychiatrist provides leadership to the multi-disciplinary treatment team and participates in performance improvement and other activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Psychiatric Assessments and Treatment Planning: Complete thorough initial, comprehensive, and annual psychiatric assessments, including diagnoses and treatment plans, while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.

  • Leadership and Clinical Oversight: Provide leadership to the multidisciplinary team and oversee unit activities to enhance the quality of care for individuals served.

  • Treatment Implementation and Monitoring: Prescribe psychotropic medications (when applicable), provide ongoing care through daily rounds, monitor lab work and consults, and assess treatment progress and readiness for discharge.

  • Crisis Intervention and Emergency Response: Deliver on-site crisis intervention and respond effectively to urgent or emergency situations to ensure patient safety and care continuity.

  • Documentation and Court Reporting: Maintain accurate, timely documentation in medical records and provide complete reports to the court, adhering to all legal, credentialing, and facility requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education:

  • Required: MD or DO degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Required: Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry.

Experience:

  • Required: One (1) year of clinical psychiatry experience.

Licenses:

  • Required: Licensed to practice in state of employment.
  • Required: Board certified or eligible in Psychiatry (must obtain certification within six months of hire).
  • Required: DEA registration.
Additional Details – Candidate Facing: This position is fully remote (tele-psychiatry) and will support a facility in Pitt County (Greenville) for 10 hours per week and Wake County (Raleigh) for 10 hours per week. We are an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer:
