This position leads and is responsible for managing field service team operations at both local and remote facilities and works directly with customers, and internal departments, to manage field service contract account deliverables.+


This position has ownership for delivering field service revenue and managing associated costs in line with overall business defined targets.


This role reports to the Senior Director of Technical Services.


Job Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and oversee the safe operations of the field services team.
  • Manage and oversee all operational aspects of the field services team.
  • Manage, schedule, and balance the field service team workload.
  • Recruit, hire and oversee the scheduling and training of new field service team personnel, including full-time employees and sub-subcontractors.
  • Complete performance reviews for each member of the field service team.
  • Actively participate in pre-proposal communications with the customer to ensure a full understanding of the customers' field service project requirements.
  • Understand and oversee all field service team deliverables relevant to field service contract accounts.
  • In close collaboration with project management, maintain regular communications with customers to ensure that they are aware of all relevant projects’ status.
  • Provide field services pricing quotes in support of commercial projects.
  • Collaborate in generating detailed field service project management plans; including the scope and schedule of the project, radio path study requirements, site surveys, photos and/or sketches that may facilitate installation planning, any engineering or special resources necessary to meet contract requirements, and anticipated risks and plans to mitigate risks.
  • Oversee and implement the field service team portion of a project, to the approved plan, to ensure on-time delivery and that all project deliverables are met.
  • Oversee all construction, installation, acceptance, and maintenance operations that utilize subcontractors on field service projects.
  • Ensure timely submittal of all documentation, reports, invoices, and expenses for the field service team.
  • Verify field sites are ready for work and the necessary materials, equipment and permissions are in place prior to dispatching crews or subcontractors to the field sites.
  • Develop, document and revise field service procedures and work instructions.
  • Keep current with technological changes and understand emerging technologies related to customer needs.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, provide equipment and system recommendations, and ensure customer issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the commercial teams as required to plan or resolve field service project or related sales order issues.
  • Coordinate with the project management team to achieve project deliverables.
  • Oversee and implement applicable field service inventory management processes, ensuring the accuracy of relevant field service and customer project inventory.
  • Apply data integrity standards to ensure that timely entry, accuracy, and consistency of data is used in any system, or digital tool that stores, processes, or retrieves data.
  • Collaborate in determining field service team performance standards and metrics.
  • Ensure that all field service documentation is accurately maintained to reflect current project status.
  • Complete a post-project review, as required.
  • Generate project documentation for a complete and comprehensive customer file.

Requirements

  

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, hydrology, or physical science.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience managing a technical field service team.
  • Proven track record in project management, subcontractor management, customer service operations, and fiscal management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a technical field service team of similar size.
  • A proven ability to communicate effectively with engineers, project managers and product managers, while building trust, credibility, and mutual success across teams.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring direct reports.
  • Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of engineering, hydrology, control system, digital communication, and hardware/software system integration.
  • Knowledge of DC circuitry and circuitry analysis, electronics, and radio communications.
  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving ability and sound judgement.
  • Strong process and procedure design and management skills.
  • Experience with product development lifecycle processes.
  • Ability to determine root causes of operating errors and creation and implementation of action plans.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of remote data collection systems.
  • Related experience with cameras, networking, point-to-point telemetry, cloud software and mobile applications.
  • Experience conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Knowledge of sensor and datalogger technology.
  • Experience with GIS mapping software and tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with ERP software systems.
  • Must be able to work on, around, over and under fixed equipment and to work at heights from lifts and ladders.
  • Physical demands associated with this position include extensive walking, lifting & carrying heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.), bending over to record field data, lifting and transporting equipment by hand.
  • Ability and willingness to work in adverse weather or temperature conditions, hazardous environments, confined spaces and on uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to work on and around water, lakes, rivers, and dams.
  • Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
  • Valid passport and driver’s license.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with RF environments, real-time telemetry or other real-time data collection platforms is preferred. 
  • PMP certification is preferred.

· This is a remote opportunity that can be done from anywhere in the continental United States and/or Canada 

· Must be eligible to work in the U.S. or Canada without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization. F-1 visa holders with Optional Practical Training (OPT) who will require H-1B status, TNs, or current H-1B visa holders will not be considered. H1-B and green card sponsorship is not available for this position.

US Compensation Range: A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000 per year. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. AEM considers a wide range of factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education, licensure and certifications, key skills as well as other market and business considerations when extending an offer. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
