We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Shell Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for the structural shell of commercial and industrial projects. You will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure competitive and precise project bids. This position requires expertise in analyzing construction drawings, material takeoffs, and pricing strategies to support our mission of efficiency and excellence in construction.
Develop detailed cost estimates for shell construction, including site preparation, foundation, structural framing, exterior walls, and roofing.
Perform material and labor quantity takeoffs from architectural and structural drawings.
Analyze and compare vendor/subcontractor quotes to ensure cost efficiency and project feasibility.
Collaborate with project teams to refine budgets, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support preconstruction planning.
Use estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift) to streamline and enhance accuracy in estimating.
Monitor market trends, material costs, and labor rates to maintain competitive pricing strategies.
Provide value engineering solutions to optimize project costs without compromising quality.
Support the risk assessment process by identifying potential cost and construction challenges.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in construction estimating, preferably focused on shell or structural work.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of structural systems, including concrete, steel, and masonry construction.
Software Proficiency: Experience with construction estimating tools such as ProEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar.
Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Ability to accurately analyze construction drawings and project specifications.
Communication Skills: Strong ability to collaborate with vendors, project managers, and stakeholders.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
