US Commercial Operations Director, Oncology
What you will do

Let’s do this! Let’s change the world for those living with gastric cancer! In this vital role the US Commercial Operations Director, Bemarituzumab will help lead Amgen’s next launch in gastric cancer, a high unmet need area in oncology. This Director role will be a key leader in the Oncology Business Unit, overseeing the implementation of the operational go-to-market strategy in the US for bemarituzumab, a first-in-class molecule targeting FGFR2b. This role will focus on ensuring seamless continuity of biomarker testing and appropriate ocular management. This leadership role will require direct line and cross-functional leadership, partnership with global marketing teams, medical, access, corporate affairs, advocacy, and agency teams. In addition to excellent teamwork and communication skills the ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for patients, delivering for the business, and commitment to excellence in marketing, leadership, strategy, and execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and contribute to a team culture of dedication, accountability, and innovation, within the direct team, overall brand team, and cross-functional team members
  • Drive the strategic and tactical direction of the FGFR2b biomarker approach in the United States
  • Manage a contracted field team with the primary responsibility of establishing FGFR2b testing availability throughout launch
  • Refine the approach for appropriate ocular patient management inclusive of strategy and key reference materials
  • Partner with regulatory, medical, and global teams to develop and execute US-specific approaches for biomarker testing and ocular management
  • Partner effectively with CD&A to identify outstanding business questions, design and execute relevant primary and secondary market research, uncover key insights, and incorporate insights and learnings into plans
  • Identify and establish clear and robust Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and lead/lag indicators to measure both strategic and tactical execution
  • Establish relationships with all agency partners and effectively coach team members through effective agency management; hold team and agency partners accountable for high quality work, budget execution, and timeliness
  • Hire, retain, and successfully coach direct report(s)
  • Demonstrate a sense of shared ownership of overall brand performance
  • Own budget and performance accountability for all tactics and workstreams

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing experience

Or

Master’s degree and 7 years of marketing experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of marketing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, PhD, MD) in marketing, healthcare management, scientific discipline, or other related subject area
  • Significant biotech pharmaceutical industry experience, and preference for oncology, hematology, and/or rare disease experience
  • Major market experience working on assets with companion diagnostics
  • Strong understanding of the oncology marketplace, key trends, barriers and opportunities
  • Experience in account marketing, sales, or related field
  • Experience effectively partnering with sales and account management teams.
  • Demonstrated strength in analytics to translate data into insights and indicated actions
  • Ability to understand and translate market research and emerging clinical, regulatory, and real-world data into insights and commercial implications.
  • Thorough knowledge of and experience in working with the promotions legal/regulatory environment including firsthand MAC experience and knowledge of compliance SOPs
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in contextual ambiguity
  • Ability to exercise strong judgment and live up to the highest ethical standards
  • Excellent communication skills and self-awareness of leadership style
  • Operates with agility and autonomy to lead workstreams independently while appropriately relying on teammates and manager for feedback and support to push through complexity and roadblocks.
  • Exceptional cross-functional leadership skills, ability to motivate, influence, and drive alignment across diverse groups.
  • Collaborative and inquisitive, ability to challenge thinking and come up with innovative solutions to problems.
  • Takes ownership of projects from end-to-end and is a self-driven, curious, and active contributor to the team.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
