GPU SOFTWARE ENGINEER

The Role

The AMD Game Engine team works in Unreal Engine 5 to fully exploit the technical capabilities of AMD's hardware products. Our aim is to raise the standards for gaming graphics and performance. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.

Key Skills: Graphics, Rendering, DirectX 12, Desired: Unreal Engine, Ray Tracing, ML, Neural Technologies

The Person

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled software designer and engineer, strong in 3D math, fluent in C++ and the efficient use of discrete GPUs, APUs, and CPUs. You are team-driven and motivated to do things others might find too difficult. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive execution of comprehensive, highly effective software for sophisticated new technology and new product introduction projects
  • Validate new SW features before releasing them to customers
  • Diagnose complex bugs and crashes in large, industry-leading engines
  • Contribute to a high-functioning feature team
  • Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them
  • Work very closely with dev teams and Project Managers to drive results 


Preferred Experience

  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in C++
  • Experience with DirectX 12 and HLSL
  • Experience profiling and optimizing real-time graphics performance, including shader code
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, especially low-level graphics problems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate fluently in English
  • Unreal Engine experience preferred but not required
  • Real-time ray tracing experience preferred but not required


Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
