Job description

Who are we?
UpGuard’s mission is to protect the world’s data. We obsessively seek out elegant, robust ways to enable our customers to find, acknowledge, and remediate cyber risk. With UpGuard, organizations leverage our security expertise and software to automate what was once laborious, spreadsheet-driven processes–whether it's monitoring the attack surface of hundreds of vendors or assessing the security of their own infrastructure. UpGuard is used by some of the world’s largest, fastest-growing, and most innovative companies.

Our Product team at UpGuard comprises of our Product Management, Product Support, Engineering, Design, Data Leaks Detection, and Third Party Risk Management Services. Our Product team’s vision is to become the leader in the Cyber VRM category by providing a best-in-class SaaS platform for organizations to manage their third-party risk and external attack surface. Our purpose as a Product team is simply to build a product that enables this. We aim to build a product that users love and come to rely on, and one that regularly and consistently improves.

Where does this role fit in?
We’re at an exciting inflection point as we expand our current product line to include two new offerings—designed to deepen our relationship with existing customers as well as attract new user personas. Crucially, this role is not about transforming an emerging team; it’s about scaling a well-functioning, high-performing product organization. With a robust team in place and engineering resources actively ramping up, the VP of Product will focus on elevating our existing discipline and ensuring our increased engineering capacity is effectively aligned with strategic product initiatives.

Drive Product Strategy & Vision
  • Define, articulate, and communicate a compelling product vision and roadmap in close collaboration with the CEO, CPO, key executives, and Product Managers.
  • Establish a strategic framework that identifies target customer segments, outlines what it means to win in the market, and differentiates our products with superior taste and quality.
  • Develop strategies to cross-sell new products to existing customers and capture new market segments.
  • Drive seamless integration across our product suite, identifying connection points that enhance cohesion and deliver a unified, consistent platform experience.

  • Lead and Empower Product Teams
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of seven experienced product managers, ensuring they have the support and resources needed to execute on ambitious product plans.
  • Further enhance an already professional product management discipline through refined onboarding, mentoring, and training programs that foster rapid experimentation and product-led growth.
  • Foster a collaborative, data-driven, and customer-centric culture aligned with best practices of leading SaaS companies.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution
  • Work closely with engineering, design, sales, marketing, and customer support to align the product vision and ensure seamless execution.
  • Establish and standardize product management processes—from multi-functional launch calendars to simple, impactful product requirement documents (PRDs).
  • Balance day-to-day operational involvement with long-term strategic planning.

  • Strategic Trade-offs & Decision Making
  • Make informed trade-offs that balance rapid experimentation with measured strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure short-term success
  • Define long-term success metrics, including product adoption rates, revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and market share expansion.

  • What do we need from you?
  • 6+ years of product management experience, with a strong track record in scaling product organizations in tech companies.
  • Demonstrated ability to craft and execute product strategies that drive both immediate wins and long-term growth.
  • Experience managing multiple product lines in complex, fast-paced environments—experience in both early-stage startups and mature organizations is a plus.
  • A data-driven mindset with exceptional taste and a commitment to product quality.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills; adept at working across functions to align vision and execute on strategy.
  • While domain expertise in vendor risk management, attack surface management or cybersecurity is ideal, proven experience in building remarkable, customer-centric products is equally valued.

  • What would give you an edge?
  • Familiarity with or a keen interest in the evolving landscape of vendor risk management, cybersecurity, and multi-product environments.
  • Experience with product-led growth initiatives and rapid experimentation aligned with best practices at leading tech companies.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment and navigate complex organizational dynamics.

  • What’s in it for you?
  • Monthly Lifestyle subsidy: use this for financial, physical and mental wellbeing
  • WFH set-up allowance: to ensure you have the right environment to work in, we will help you get set-up within your first 3 months at UpGuard
  • $1500 USD annual Learning & Development allowance: to support your career development all team members will be able to expense development opportunities against this allowance

  • Fully remote working environment: whilst we have physical offices in Sydney & Hobart, we do not mandate compulsory attendance
  • Top spec hardware: all team members will be provided with top-spec laptops for their role
