Position Description:
U.S. News & World Report is seeking multiple talented summer outreach specialists to work remotely with the Health Analysis team to support the maintenance and continued expansion of the high-profile “Best Hospitals for Maternity Care” program. Best Hospitals for Maternity Care relies on data collected in an online survey from hospital representatives and provides consumers with highly sought-after information to make informed decisions about where to safely and confidently deliver a baby. Outreach Specialists will conduct outreach to hospitals via email and telephone to promote participation in the 2025 U.S. News Maternity Services Survey. Outreach Specialists will also assist with quality assurance of submitted data and will work with hospitals to ensure that data is correct.

Outreach Specialists will conduct direct outreach to hospital representatives and follow-up with a substantial number of hospitals - ideally 150 or more a week – via email and phone. Successful candidates will play a key role in maintaining hospital contacts, providing outreach to hospitals that provide maternity services, and expanding participation in the survey.
The Outreach Specialist will also assist with the validation of collected data. This will include reviewing submitted hospital data, contacting hospitals regarding needed corrections, and answering questions hospitals may have during the data validation process.
They may participate in other projects for the health team as requested, including supporting the preparation of our annual Best Hospitals Guidebook.
Minimum Requirements:
Eligible candidates must have an undergraduate degree.
Demonstrated written and oral outreach or communication experience. Phone banking experience preferred.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and maturity in the workplace
Detail-oriented, with an ability to maintain shared spreadsheets and documents
Proficiency in the use of MSOffice Suite, Google Sheets/Docs, and Slack
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates should be responsible, responsive, and ready to hit the ground running in an external-facing role that involves substantial phone and email communication with healthcare professionals at diverse hospitals across the country. They must be willing to conduct web-based fact-checking and participate in other projects that support the health team as needed.
Ideal candidates are high performers who are detail-oriented and excited about working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment. They should be motivated to work independently and feel comfortable reaching out to teammates and to their supervisor with questions or ideas to improve or support the project.
Ideal candidates have demonstrated outreach or communications experience, preferably via both phone and email.
