The Role
Tala is seeking an experienced, impact-driven leader to head our Global Fraud Strategy team. As Director of Global Fraud Strategy, you will report to the SVP of Credit & Fraud Risk and lead the development of a comprehensive fraud prevention and mitigation strategy. This role is critical to safeguarding Tala’s customers and business while enabling growth across markets and products. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking, data-driven decision-making, and team leadership, with a proven ability to combat fraud in consumer lending using best-in-class technology.
What You'll Do Lead the development and implementation of Tala’s global fraud strategy, encompassing all aspects of fraud prevention, detection, and response across loan portfoliosCreate visibility throughout Tala into our fraud strategy and opportunities, including obtaining buy-in from and influencing other key leaders in the organizationConduct in-depth analysis of portfolio and industry fraud trends to identify emerging risks and vulnerabilitiesStay abreast of industry best practices, technology, and regulatory developments in the fraud space and incorporate them into Tala’s approach to fraudOversee the execution of fraud prevention and detection initiatives, partnering closely with key stakeholders, including Credit Strategy, Product, Engineering, Operations, Data Science, Legal/Compliance, and Engineering teams to deliver effective solutionsDefine and monitor key performance indicators that provide visibility into fraud in Tala’s portfolios and the ability to measure the effectiveness of fraud prevention effortsAnticipate the need for evolution in our fraud risk mitigation strategy as part of Tala’s planned market and product growthBuild, manage, and mentor a high-performing, global team of fraud professionalsWhat You'll Need 8+ years experience in fraud prevention strategy, preferably in the consumer finance/fintech industryProven track record of developing and implementing successful fraud prevention strategiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate patterns from large datasets into digestible and actionable insights that inform strategyProficiency in SQL and PythonExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across different levels and functionsExperience managing and developing high-performing teamsOutcome-oriented mindset with a strong bias for actionBachelor’s degree in finance, engineering, statistics, or other related disciplineComfort working and effectively communicating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a global teamExperience defining and driving a roadmap based on company performance goalsA curiosity that will enable you to digest the Tala loan product business model quickly and find opportunities to create valueOur vision is to build a new financial ecosystem where everyone can participate on equal footing and access the tools they need to be financially healthy.
