About the role

Atomwise is seeking an experienced Senior/Staff Software Engineer with strong Python expertise to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Machine Learning, Cheminformatics, and Drug Discovery teams to develop and implement software and services that drive innovation and accelerate our research.

Key Responsibilities

• Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient Python-based software solutions to support machine learning, cheminformatics, and drug discovery initiatives.
• Service Implementation: Translate research ideas and proofs-of-concept into production services, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and infrastructure.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Machine Learning Cheminformatics & Research and Drug Discovery, to understand their requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
• Problem Solving: Apply your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to tackle complex technical and business challenges and drive innovation in the field of drug discovery.

Required Qualifications

• Python Expertise: Extensive experience in Python programming, with a deep understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
• Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
• Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native development practices.
• Data Engineering: Experience with data engineering tools and techniques, including data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing.
• Drug Discovery: Familiarity with drug discovery processes and workflows, and experience working in a research environment.
• Machine Learning: Familiarity with machine learning algorithms, frameworks, and tools, and experience applying them to real-world problems.
• Cheminformatics: Knowledge of cheminformatics principles and techniques and experience working with chemical data and software tools.

The base salary for this position is $135,000 - $210,000. Pay is determined by multiple factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographical location, experience and skills.
