Job Description:
Our client in the healthcare industry is seeking a Senior PHP Developer to join their team. This fully remote position involves a 3-to-6-month contract and potential conversion to a full-time role.
 
Responsibilities:

• Modernize Existing PHP Application: Work with the team to update and enhance a long-standing PHP application.
• Review and Documentation: Understand the current application and the planned modernization features to contribute valuable guidance.
• Design and Architecture: Assist in designing and architecting the new PHP application, ensuring best practices and modern solutions.
• Development Contributions: Potentially participate in the development process.
• Provide Expertise: Offer direction, advisory skills, and expert knowledge on upgrading PHP versions and other modernization efforts.
• Stay Current: Keep up with emerging technologies relevant to the role.

 
Key Responsibilities:

• Understand and review the existing PHP application.
• Assess modernization features and make recommendations.
• Contribute to the design, architecture, and potential development of the new PHP application.
• Provide expert guidance on best practices for modernizing legacy PHP applications.

 
Required Skills and Experience:

• Senior-level experience with the following:
  • Apache
  • Recent versions of PHP (including PHP-FPM 7.2-8.3)
  • Frameworks (including Symfony)
  • Symfony Messenger for async message queues
  • MySQL 5.7
  • REST Services/API calls
• Familiarity with:
  • JIRA
  • Bitbucket (source code repository)
  • Jenkins (CI/CD)
  • Doctrine ORM/DBAL for database abstraction
  • Redis for session storage
  • AWS
