About the role
Setting up and manage an efficient network of regional distributors and direct customers in the assigned region(s).
The main objective is develop the brand presence in all our existing categories across the region.
Maximizing performance in terms of revenue, profitability, growing market share, improving distribution create instore & online visibility for our brands. Translating central marketing strategy (portfolio, trade activation, POS) into customer account plans and implement the, build key customers relationship (with existing and new customers), negotiate yearly agreement and close business deals. Identifying and activating new business opportunities across all channels in assigned countrie(s).
Support with defining the local strategy and market approach. Provide leadership for the extended teams across the markets, giving focus for all activity generated in support of achievement of key commercial objectives.
What you’ll do in the role
Strategy Development:
- Successfully implement Commercial Strategy to gain revenue and improve profitability
- Build Business Plans, define Must-Win SKU-Customer combinations and translate those into Customer Strategy & Implementation
- Define and optimize the preferred Go-to-Market model, considering changing market circumstances, business opportunities, brand portfolio, margins and retail pricing development
- Select and agree contracts with Distributors.
- Recognize and develop new business opportunities to maximize short and long-term profit potential.
- Category development plans and initiatives with Key Accounts
- Develop new segments of the product portfolio, not yet introduced to the market (if relevant for assigned region)
- Interface with European Sales and Marketing teams identifying needs, propose potential products and establish local plans to achieve targets in a timely manner
Sales Management:
- Translate strategy into action with accounts and distributors, resulting in annual business plans and contractual agreements
- Maximize distribution, shelf presentation, visibility/impact (FMOT) and promotional effectiveness for the brands at Key Accounts and indirect at Key accounts managed by agents.
- Propose marketing programs and follow up key customers
- Ensure execution by translation into action plans (4Ps: price, promotions, product, placement) are implemented in an appropriate manner by managing pre-defined KPI’s
- Annual planning with Key Accounts and follow up on agreed promotions and launches
- Convert annual agreements into internal ‘2-pager’ and on-going promo-price request forms. Ensure documents are always up to date and on-time shared with business partners
- Manage & Monitor KPI’s to meet Performance Commitment (Invoiced sales / gross profit / adjusted contribution margin)
- Ownership of the market, developing external and internal relationships within all arenas.
- Train, Coach and develop agent network about new products, concepts and ensure proper follow up in the field
- Oversee sales operations (logistics, ordering, quality) in close cooperation with Customer Service.
- Interface with Sourcing & Regulatory and Quality ensuring product availability
- Jointly develop category budgets for sign off at European HQ and deploy across the individual markets. Review and update these budgets on a quarterly basis, or as required by the business.
- Provide leadership to the (external) field reps
Reporting & other:
- (Monthly) KPI reporting to manager, solution driven in case necessary
- Accurately Forecast the business (SKU level) (Price & Volume) ensuring availability
- Monthly update meetings with retailers
What will help you do the job well
🗝 Essential:
- Business Education in Business/Finance field with 7 years’ experience in account/sales/distributor management within an FMCG environment. Preferable with Blue Chip companies. At least 5 years’ experience with key/e-retailers.
- Excellent knowledge of the Retail/Distributor scene
- Full knowledge of cost, profit/loss, and excellent planning skills are required
- Experience in selling premium concepts by utilizing capabilities like category management and retail excellence tools
- Demonstrated expertise in business development, negotiation, and analytical skills required.
- Digital/e-commerce experience
- Fluent in English (spoken and written), French a plus.
