Job description

Who we are

At Fortis Games we aspire to make great games that bring people together while redefining how game companies work. We believe in building a sense of belonging through our games, their communities, and how we operate and treat each other. Through our game communities, we will create powerful connections and lasting memories. We will foster a culture of diversity, equity and belonging where together our diverse skills, experiences and backgrounds impact the games we make.

We are an early but mighty organization with a leadership team of game industry veterans. There are many opportunities for you to have a big impact on the products we'll be making as well as the overall direction of the company. If you're passionate about tackling difficult problems with direct and thoughtful communication and team first mentality, we may be the right place for you.

About the role

As a Senior UX Designer on the Platform team for Fortis, you’ll play a key role within a team responsible for building out tools, infrastructure, and player-facing products that support our game developers and players.

  • Collaborate remotely with product and engineering teams to generate design solutions that address our users’ needs.
  • Transform complex workflows and information into intuitive, and user-friendly experiences.
  • Lead the design process from research to final deliverables, including diagrams, flows, and prototypes.
  • Oversee design hand-offs to development, ensuring smooth implementation utilizing our design component systems and documentation.
  • Champion users and their needs by promoting user-centered design practices and using rituals and artifacts to continually foster user empathy within the broader team.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of our design systems to ensure a consistent look and feel across our products.
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends and best practices in gaming, technology, and design to bring fresh ideas to our team.
What you’ll achieve
  • Design tools that seamlessly integrate with our games and platform systems, enabling a smooth workflow for our game development teams and allowing them to focus on creating awesome player experiences without duplicating efforts or struggling with tools and workflows.

  • Help champion the user experience for our game developers. Design and implement solutions that make it easier for devs to understand and integrate our platform capabilities, including onboarding flows, documentation products, code examples, and demo apps.
What you’ll need to be successful

Your background:

  • We’re looking for a UX Designer with a solid track record of designing web or mobile applications, preferably within the gaming or software development industry.

  • Show us your portfolio, which should highlight your user-centered design process, problem-solving abilities, and the impact you’ve had on projects.

  • Experience with service design, and/or designing technical products with an understanding of the technology and technical constraints involved.

How you work:

  • Ability to think strategically, balancing both short-term and long-term impact of your design decisions across our tooling platform.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical teams, able to present design ideas and rationale in a compelling and accessible way.
  • Embrace change and ambiguity, thriving in evolving environments and tackling challenges with a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to provide and receive constructive and candid feedback, to elevate the success of yourself and your peers.

Additionally:

  • Proficiency in Figma or an equivalent design and prototyping tool.
  • Experience in customer success, technical writing, or documentation, especially related to product adoption and onboarding.
  • An interest in gaming or a strong understanding of the gaming industry’s challenges is a plus.

Why join us

There are many reasons to join us, but here are a few:

  • We strongly believe we are changing how games studios operate and at the core of what we do is making great games that create a connected community
  • We're not just about making Games Where You Belong. We're also about building communities where our people belong. That's why Fortis is a thriving environment that celebrates diversity, embraces inclusivity, and fosters growth.
  • Build and grow with a seasoned team of accomplished talent who have left an impactful mark in their disciplines, both in and out of gaming
