Position Summary

As a Senior Cloud Data Engineer, you will support data related initiatives within Data Engineering & Strategy department with a focus on enabling data operations and analytics platform and enabling data for consumption by data operations, reporting, business intelligence and analytics user community. This role is responsible for developing data ingestion patterns, data pipelines, data extraction, load, and transformation (ETL) programs for the initiative, developing and executing ETL test plans, and automating the ETL process through scheduling and exception-handling routines.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Works with business teams to understand business use cases, requirements and translate business requirements into data requirements.
  • Works with applications specialists (SMEs) to understand data sources and perform data discovery and document the learnings.
  • Technical expert for the cloud data platform, contribute to the technical design and architecture development.
  • Work hands on within the cloud data platform to deliver new features, fix issues and ensure best practices.
  • Creates ETL system design specifications and data flow diagrams.
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Prepare technical and system specifications documents including Source to Target Mapping covering data sources integration patterns, controls, data transformation and load rules.
  • Ensure that best practices are defined and adhered to.
  • Designs, develops, tests and deploys ELT programs to extract, stage, cleanse, transform and load the data needed.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, and supports the warehouse and the downstream data feeds sent to consuming applications.
  • Supports system, integration and UAT testing.
  • Assists with performing source data quality assessments
  • Performs root cause analysis, resolves production issues working with a production support team.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned and fulfill report and data extraction requests as needed
  • Adherence to legal and company standards

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field is required.
  • Five (5+) years as a Cloud Data Engineer
  • Five (5+) years working with AWS Cloud Platform and Services including AWS Glue, S3, Data Catalog, Lake Formation, Lambda. API Integrations, AWS CloudWatch, Kafka, GitHub etc.
  • 5+ years working in an Agile development environment, hands-on experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience in ETL/ELT development using Informatica (Cloud) products and Snowflake, Data Integration and Data Quality services and products.
  • Experience in designing and implementing ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into the data lakes.
  • Proficiency in warehousing architecture techniques and big data technologies. Such as Data Lake, Data Marts, Enterprise Data Warehouse Delta Lake, Iceberg etc.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Pyspark, AirFlow
  • Data Governance and Security: Understanding of data security best practices access control and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Consumer Financial Services background, preferably credit card business knowledge

Summary Of Qualifications

  • Ability to gather requirements, apply strong analysis and design skills to build ELT and system specifications
  • Strong knowledge of AWS Could Data Platform products and services
  • Proficient in designing and developing ETL Programs
  • Strong project management & analytical skills
  • Ability to work with data warehouse users, IT Business Analysts
  • Strong problem solving, written and verbal communication skills
  • Python with PySpark hands on coding for automation and data processing tasks
  • Knowledge of Cloud-based solutions and databases beneficial (e.g. Snowflake)
  • Proficiency in Python preferred.

The salary range for this position, if located in NY Metro/NY State is $127,000.00 to $141,000.00. However, please note that the salary range will vary for other geographic areas.
