Your Role:

As a Staff Backend Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain backend systems that power a high-availability legal tech platform. Using your expertise in Python or Golang, youโ€™ll deliver end-to-end solutions while driving technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement backend services and APIs optimized for performance and scalability.
  • Lead the development lifecycle of features, from architecture design to deployment and maintenance.
  • Build and optimize data storage systems that handle high-volume, real-time data processing.
  • Collaborate with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to align on goals and deliver cohesive solutions.
  • Maintain high standards of code quality through peer reviews, testing, and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance issues and scalability challenges.
You Bring:
  • 6โ€“8+ years of experience in backend development with a focus on Python or Golang.
  • Expertise in building end-to-end solutions for production environments.
  • Experience working in startups or industries requiring scalable, data-intensive systems (e.g., legal tech, fintech, SaaS).
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing APIs (RESTful, GraphQL, gRPC).
  • Hands-on experience with SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis) databases.
  • Experience deploying and managing services on cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of addressing technical challenges.
Bonus Points:
  • Familiarity with microservices and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins) and automated testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the legal tech industry or similar mission-driven sectors.
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience with junior developers.
