We are seeking an experienced Senior HV Protection Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of high-voltage (HV) protection systems. This remote role involves delivering detailed designs for HV projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. A significant part of the role will involve working extensively with CAD and simulation software.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop HV protection systems for transmission and distribution networks.
Perform protection coordination studies and relay setting calculations.
Create and review single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and wiring diagrams using CAD tools.
Specify, configure, and test protection relays (e.g., distance, differential, overcurrent).
Conduct fault level and load flow analysis using simulation software.
Prepare technical reports and documentation, including design specifications and calculations.
Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other engineers to deliver solutions.
Ensure compliance with industry standards.
Required Software Proficiency:
ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or equivalent for system modelling and analysis.
AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar CAD software for electrical schematics and layouts.
Relay software tools
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation.
Must be comfortable spending a significant portion of time working on CAD and simulation tools.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 7 years of experience in HV protection design and engineering.
Strong understanding of HV equipment (transformers, switchgear, cables).
Proficiency in protection relay configuration and commissioning.
Knowledge of UK electrical network standards is advantageous.
Strong communication and project management skills.
