Position Overview:
The Cisco Enterprise
Network Architect/Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining
the network infrastructure of an organization using Cisco technologies. This
role focuses on building and supporting scalable and secure enterprise networks
to meet business needs. The Cisco Enterprise Network Engineer collaborates with
cross-functional teams, including network architects, system administrators,
and security professionals, to ensure the effective delivery of network
services.
Key
Responsibilities:
1. Network Design and Implementation:
· Design, plan, and implement Cisco-based network solutions for the
organization and clients, adhering to industry best practices.
· Evaluate business requirements and translate them into technical
specifications for network infrastructure.
· Configure and deploy Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, wireless
controllers, and other networking devices.
· Conduct network capacity planning and performance tuning to optimize
network performance.
2. Network Troubleshooting and Support:
· Monitor and maintain network infrastructure, ensuring high availability,
reliability, and security.
· Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, both proactively and
reactively, to minimize downtime and disruptions.
· Collaborate with support teams and vendors to troubleshoot complex
network problems.
· Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent
recurrence of network issues.
3. Network Security and Compliance:
· Implement and enforce network security measures, including access
controls, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
· Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify
vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
· Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
(e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR) related to network infrastructure.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
· Maintain accurate network documentation, including network diagrams,
configurations, and standard operating procedures.
· Create reports and provide insights on network performance, utilization,
and trends.
· Document network changes and updates, following change management
processes.
5. Collaboration and Teamwork:
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network architects,
system administrators, and security professionals, to ensure integrated and
secure network services.
· Participate in project teams, providing technical expertise and guidance
on network-related initiatives.
· Mentor and provide technical support to junior network engineers.
· Lead team and work with Executive Leadership to grow the network
practice.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a
related field (or equivalent experience).
· Cisco certifications - CCIE strongly preferred.
· Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including
TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPN, and QoS.
· Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and supporting
Cisco-based network infrastructure.
· Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting Cisco routers, switches,
firewalls, and wireless controllers.
· Proficient in Meraki Switches
· AWS Networking
· Various other Vendor Security Products
o Palo Alto
o Fortinet
· Strong knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
· Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
