Summary:
The Strategic Transactions Senior Associate (or Manager based on experience) would support a team of Finance professionals who source financing (corporate debt and equity financing, governmental financing, and tax credit sales) and execute on corporate development initiatives.
The position requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, unstructured environment, constantly collaborating with various internal and external teams to meet transaction deadlines. The individual would ultimately be responsible for managing day-to-day modeling, due diligence, negotiation and execution of these transactions.
Essential Responsibilities: Transaction LeadershipManage and build complex financial pro forma models to support corporate financing and specialty financial transactions, including but not limited to, corporate capital raises, governmental financing, and transferable tax credit salesLead various aspects of these transactions, including but not limited to: Sourcing and outreach; Due diligence; Term sheet and transaction document negotiation; Dataroom managementSupport and lead marketing of Highland’s capital structure to outside parties, interacting with banks and investors, and infrastructure fundsManage external parties, such as bankers and consultantsPreparation of applications and leading discussions or negotiations with governmental financing entities such as the Department of Energy or State Green Banks to provide unique capital to Highland’s projectsLead sale of transferrable tax credits, including sourcing investors and executing transactionsPreparation and delivery of materials for Investment Committee review and approvalEssential Responsibilities: Project AnalysisConduct financial analyses of new markets, opportunities, and competitorsAssist cross functional teams in evaluation of strategic opportunitiesUnderstand the various inputs to Highland’s model, working closely with cross-functional experts in various functional groups such as Origination and Fleet OperationsMacroeconomic analysis, including impacts of tax law change, interest rate environments, and broader sector trendsQualifications:Minimum ~3 years in Renewables/Power & Utilities, Transportation/Automotive, Project Finance, CapitalMarkets, Private Equity or Investment Banking or Corporate Finance with an emphasis on modelingExpert financial modeling skills required, with expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft ExcelStrong experience supporting financingsCandidates will be expected to provide and speak to a list of deals they have worked on and may be required to complete a financial modeling testExperience managing large projects with multiple stakeholders on tight timelinesAbility to present complex information succinctly and efficiently to audiences internal and external, including financing counterpartiesWhat You Can Expect from Highland:
