Job description

The Company

Our Client is a for-profit social enterprise created to provide employment opportunities for the "forgotten workforce" within marginalized communities. Acknowledging the limited job prospects yet high potential within these groups, the enterprise set out to bridge this gap by leveraging technology and the internet to connect marginalized communities to the global economy. The organization’s philosophy embraces the Triple Bottom Line: Profit, People, and Planet.

Profit
Built on a sustainable for-profit model, the enterprise emphasizes three guiding principles: • Sustainability • Scalability • Dignity – empowering individuals to support themselves independently of charitable aid.

People
The organization is dedicated to sustainable, meaningful employment for marginalized communities. Initially hiring persons with disabilities (PWDs), it has expanded to include 39.5% PWDs, 10.5% refugees, and 3.5% retirees. Operating fully remotely, it provides seamless service to clients globally and continues to create job opportunities for other marginalized and disadvantaged groups.

Planet
With a 100% cloud-based model and no physical office, the organization champions ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles, reducing its carbon footprint by enabling all team members to work from home, thus eliminating commute-related emissions and fostering a sustainable business model

Our Client is now seeking an experienced Finance Director, ideally a senior citizen, who brings a wealth of expertise and a passion for social impact to the mission-driven organization. As a key member of the leadership team, the successful candidate will oversee financial operations, support business expansion, and drive strategies that balance profitability with positive social outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to contribute your skills to a growing social enterprise dedicated to empowering marginalized communities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Lead end-to-end financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support sustainable growth, aligning with the company’s social mission and business objectives.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to guide decision-making for business ventures and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on short- and long-term financial planning, identifying opportunities for scalability and profitability.

2. Budgeting & Financial Planning
  • Oversee the budgeting process to align with operational and expansion needs.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support growth, project development, and potential investments.
  • Monitor financial performance, addressing variances and adjusting forecasts as necessary

3. Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory regulations, tax requirements, and internal policies.
  • Identify and manage financial risks, maintaining strong internal controls.
  • Develop policies for improved financial efficiency and regulatory adherence.

4. Operational Efficiency
  • Drive improvements within the finance function to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Implement best practices for financial operations suited to a social enterprise with a remote, cloud-based structure.
  • Support and mentor the finance team, fostering cross-functional collaboration

5. Mission-Driven Financial Stewardship
  • Balance financial stability with social impact, ensuring resources align with business and community goals.
  • Engage in financial planning for social impact projects, ensuring profit initiatives align with our mission.
  • Work with other departments to measure and communicate the financial impact of social initiatives

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of financial management experience, ideally in a small-to-mediumsized enterprise or social enterprise.
  • Proven expertise in budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic financial planning.
  • Strong knowledge of compliance, tax regulations, and internal control processes.
  • Experience with remote work environments and cloud-based financial management tools is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and align financial goals with mission-driven objectives.

Key Competencies:
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to align financial strategies with company mission and growth goals.
  • Problem Solver: Hands-on approach to financial challenges with a focus on scalability and efficiency.
  • Mission-Oriented: Commitment to social impact and the unique objectives of a for-profit social enterprise.
  • Adaptable & Proactive: Skilled in navigating growth phases and anticipating financial needs.
  • Collaborative Leader: Ability to work with a small team, fostering continuous improvement and impact-driven focus

Benefits

This is an ideal role for qualified senior citizens who wish to apply their extensive financial expertise to meaningful work.
