Alumni Engagement Coordinator I - Alumni Services

Work Location:

Full time

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will, under the general direction of the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement, organize and coordinate alumni programs and services designed to foster and strengthen the relationship between InterVarsity and its alumni.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 

Personal:  

  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ:  growing in love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture and God’s purposes in the world 
  • Maintaining spiritual disciplines for personal and ministry growth
  • Modeling wisdom and maturing in the balance of family, church, and ministry 
 

Alumni Focus:

  • Create and manage programs to engage and cultivate alumni with specific affinities or special interests  
  • Establish programs that facilitate alumni networks and target communication to these alumni populations. Most importantly, the coordinator will establish programs that enable Alumni to support current students through mentoring, networking, and leadership development in an environment meant to foster their respective community  
  • Identify Alumni’s areas of interest/need and partner with the alumni engagement team to create and disperse resources and opportunities in response  
  • Continue stewardship of Alumni to help them thrive and encourage further partnership with InterVarsity  
  • Represent the National Alumni Relations Team and Alumni Relations Team at events to build relationships and strengthen partnerships  
  • Collaborate with regional staff and staff directors to develop and implement plans to increase the number of alumni who are giving, advocating, praying and serving to advance the mission of InterVarsity  
  • Collaborate with development side of team and alumni communications team to provide donor insights and information, when appropriate  
  • Develop, support, grow, and evaluate collaborative strategic programming within Alumni Engagement Team  
  • Partner with Associate Director of Alumni Engagement to develop a strategic plan for alumni engagement  
  • Aid Associate Director of Alumni Engagement in identifying new Alumni benefits for alumni   
  • Partner with Associate Director of Alumni Engagement to evaluate all programing and outreach efforts to inform future efforts  
  • Partner with regional staff to plan and execute alumni events and provide access to national alumni resources
  • Partner with the Development Department to help execute an integrated Alumni Donor experience  
  • Communicate regularly with current and potential donors, churches, prayer support team members, friends and family regarding ministry with InterVarsity and engage in spiritual formation of alumni  

National Focus:

  • Serve as active member of National Alumni Relations Team and participate in all team meetings
  • Contribute toward National Alumni Relations Team goals
  • Represent InterVarsity Alumni Relations to constituencies inside and outside of InterVarsity 
  • Lead staff, alumni, and volunteers in regular times of Bible study, worship, and prayer gatherings at local and national events and conferences

Alumni Services Addendum Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement to build and maintain an alumni engagement metrics system
  • Work with the Alumni Relations Team to support ongoing engagement efforts
  • Partner with Alumni Development System Analysts to provide necessary information and reporting on Alumni Engagement
  • Work with the InterVarsity Store to market and sell alumni swag
  • Collaborate with others to get alumni swag designed, ordered, and positioned to sel

Maintain professional growth and involvement:

  • Stay informed about the changing needs of alumni throughout different stages of life.
  • Attend and serve onsite at InterVarsity conferences and conventions as needed
  • Maintain professional growth through continuing education

Maintain sound financial status:

  • Raise agreed upon amount of salary and benefits
  • Develop an ongoing ministry support team for prayer and financial support  
  • Represent InterVarsity within the wider Christian community  

This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary. The anticipated salary range for this position on a full-time basis (40 hours/week) is dependent on a variety of factors, including location and cost of living. The actual salary received is subject to the individual’s ability to raise funds necessary to cover the full amount of the salary range noted in the job posting.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university 
  • InterVarsity campus experience preferred
  • Demonstrated skills in coaching and communicating  
  • Knowledge of current Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in coaching and communicating  
  •  Demonstrated experience of effective team supervision 
  • Ability to partner and work well in a diverse team environment which includes cross cultural, generational, gender, ethnic, geographical, and economic situations
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task well
  • Ability to develop a ministry support team who will pray, support, and give financially
  • Willing to travel as needed

ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR JOB GROUP CAREER PROGRESSION

Alumni Engagement Coordinator I
Level 7

This is an entry-level Alumni Engagement Coordinator position. The coordinator is still learning and understanding the responsibilities of the position.  InterVarsity work experience of 0-3 years is preferred.

Alumni Engagement Coordinator II
Level 8

This is a proficient Alumni Engagement Coordinator who is knowledgeable and experienced in some of the responsibilities. InterVarsity work experience of 4-7 years is preferred. Ability to lead and manage interns.

Senior Alumni Engagement Coordinator
Level 9

This is a Senior level Alumni Engagement Coordinator who models balanced, Biblical maturity in all areas of ministry, and has in-depth and ongoing responsibilities for Alumni Engagement work while influencing the movement through modeling and teaching. InterVarsity work experience of 7+ years is preferred.  Ability to lead and supervise Alumni Engagement Coordinators level I and II.

Pay Range: $44,016.00 - $58,680.00 per year
