Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine (RUSVM) offers a unique program of training on the island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean. A cutting-edge curriculum, with innovative use of technologies and simulations, provides the best possible training for tomorrow’s veterinarians. Students benefit from seven semesters of integrated preclinical and clinical studies at our St Kitts campus, and one year of clinical training at our affiliate veterinary teaching hospitals in the United States, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Our ongoing research focuses on key issues strategically relevant to One Health in tropical and developing countries and includes zoonotic diseases, food safety and security, environmental health, and conservation medicine. General Veterinary Technican position

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will join a large team which consists of Certified/ Licensed/ Registered veterinary technicians/nurses, veterinary assistants, and faculty. The candidate will be responsible with colleagues for ensuring the smooth running of the Ross University Veterinary Clinic which provide a limited amount of teaching and administration responsibilities
  • Duties will be assigned by the Lead Certified/ Licensed/ Registered veterinary technician/nurse
  • Competence would be expected in all small animal related routine Certified/ Licensed/ Registered veterinary technicians/nurses duties, including dentistry, patient nursing, induction and monitoring of anesthesia.
  • There would be an expectation to be able to supervise and train veterinary assistants in routine procedures such as: Venipuncture, IV catheter placement, administration of medication iv/im/po, use of fluid pumps,  diagnostic tests, surgical prep, chemotherapy etc.
  • Duties may include setting up teaching laboratories and supervising and training veterinary assistants to set up the laboratories.
  • There would be an expectation to maintain licensure and AAHA and AVMA accreditation requirements
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications
  • 3 years’ experience as a certified veterinary technician Required or
  • equivalent
  • Certified/ Licensed/ Registered veterinary technician/nurse Required
