As a senior people leader in the OCI Reliability group, you will be driving the creation of services ensuring the highest level of availability and reliability for OCI services and customers. We are building new technologies that automate the detection, diagnosis, and recovery for operational incidents in OCI global distributed cloud services. Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced leader in the problem space of Software Engineering for Service / Cloud Reliability and Incident Management. You will be responsible for leading a team owning complex systems with high scalability, performance, and security. You will partner with other development teams responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing solutions within a distributed computing environment. You will provide technical leadership to a team of engineers. You will be responsible for taking the product through architecture and design reviews with senior technical leaders and architects in the company. As a member of the OCI Reliability team, you will define the future of services used daily by both customers and internal teams. The role requires a wide range of skills, including:

  • Planning, design, and execution of delivery roadmap for complex, highly technical tools and services in the Cloud.
  • Ability to obtain results through the people you lead, owning organizational structure, headcount planning, recruiting targets and performance management.
  • Ability to attract high-value talent from outside the organization, with additional success developing and retaining top talent.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for change.
  • Influence and work with geographically distributed cross-functional teams across organisations.
  • Drive performant, scalable, and forward-thinking solutions to completion on time.
  • Raise the bar for engineering quality and best practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders and influence business leaders.
  • Role model for OCI Values.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years people management and/or lead experience with at least 2+ years leading an organization including other managers or leads.
  • Experienced leader and exemplary manager of software engineering teams, including owning and improving quality of org-wide processes, with responsibility including roadmap planning, talent review and goal setting.
  • Experience in the problem space of Service / Cloud Reliability and Incident Management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven track record of successfully shipping new products in an agile environment.
  • Demonstrated technical domain knowledge in System Design of public Cloud technologies and/or distributed systems.
  • Comfort with complex, constantly evolving environments. Ability to learn new technologies quickly and excel under high level of ambiguity.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent education.
  • Experience with key related technologies, such as microservice-based architectures, distributed systems, Java, SQL and NoSQL databases, REST APIs, Cloud services, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform.
  • Ability to build, drive and promote cross-team processes and achieve org-wide impact.
  • Previous experience with system monitoring, automation, and incident management and response systems.
  • Previous experience as a Software Engineer or Software Architect.

US: Hiring Range: from $120,300 - $291,900 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
